Carmen came up from behind and wrapped her arms around the thin woman’s waist. "Hey you. Surprise." Carmen stated. "What’s this?" Shane said looking on in disbelief.

"Well, since I ruined breakfast and cried on your shoulder all morning, I wanted to do something to make it up to you".

"Babe, I told you that you didn’t ruin anything… But since everything smells so good, I won’t deny you the pleasure of surprising me" she laughed placing a kiss to the top of Carmen’s hand.

"Good, now sit.sit. And let me make you a plate" Carmen served up enchiladas, spanish rice, beans, and sliced pie for dessert. Shane hadn’t eaten this much food in a while since her appetite had always been so unpredictable. But today was not a time for shyness.

Sitting back in her chair, she patted her stomach as she watched this beautiful woman take such pains to clean up after her, refill her glass with

raspberry tea, and scrub the dishes without allowing her to lift a finger.

This is how it’s supposed to be she thought. I come home to a wonderful meal, we lay in bed all day if we choose. Us cuddling, holding each other, comforting each other, defending each other, loving each other. This is all I need to be happy and as she looked on silently as Carmen busied herself clad in nothing but boy shorts, tank top and no shoes, Shane had an idea. She excused herself quickly and went to the bedroom only to return a short time later.

Carmen was so busy, that she hadn’t even noticed as Shane snuck up behind her. In doing so, she almost dropped the dish that was in her hand. "Shane! You scared me half to death! What are you doing?" she replied giggling.

Turning Carmen around to face her, she wore a serious expression as she stated without hesitation "I’m putting this ring on your finger." And with that, Shane pulled out the ring that she had bought for Carmen months ago. She had fished it out of Carmen’s shorts pockets several weeks ago, and had hidden them in her dresser drawer. She assumed Carmen hadn’t noticed since her mind had been filled with so many things and she hadn’t asked Shane of their whereabouts.

"You what?" Carmen said as her hands began to shake.

"I want us both to wear these rings from this moment forward." Shane explained, and proceeded to fit the ring onto Carmen’s ring finger as well as her own.
