    first time

Bette had returned from the grocery store with Angelica a couple of hours before.  She had emptied the bags, storing everything neatly in the appropriate drawer or shelf.  A few minutes after starting dinner, Tina came home.  She fed the baby and returned to the living room to unpack her bag, laying paperwork across the table.

The unspoken agreement resulted in a quiet between them.  They’d become roommates.  Roommates who didn’t really talk.

As Bette suggested, Tina ‘explored’ her feelings for Josh.  Well, not Josh exactly but men.  One in particular that held her interest.  One she preferred over Bette’s company and their constant bickering.  Bette waited, but no sign came from Tina that she wanted to try again.

“Take a ten-minute break?”  Bette suggested.

“I really shouldn’t.  There are a few things I have to send out by tonight.”  Tina replied.

“Tina.  Would you stop reading your script for a minute?”

    “What?” Tina asked impatiently.

Sighing, “Why are you so angry with me?”  Bette asked pointedly.

“I’m not.”  Tina shook her head.  “I’m not ok.  JustI just have so much to do.”

“Alright.”  Bette conceded.  “Is there anything you want to talk through?”

“No I’ve got it.  I should be done with it soon.” Tina answered.

Both women kept looking across the room at each other.  This was the typical scene that had played out for some time now.

Bette grabbed the baby monitor then rose to approach the table where Tina had her computer and papers spread out.

“Ten minutes Tina.” Reaching out with her palm up, she urged Tina to stand.

After straightening to get on her feet, Tina released Bette’s hand and raised her eyebrows expectantly as if asking what was next.

Sighing in defeat Bette suggested, “Let’s sit outside.”

    “Fine.” Tina replied.

Finding their seats in the familiar surroundings of their backyard, Bette recalled how much effort had gone into making it the way it was.

“Do you remember how much trouble it was to get those trees?” she pointed with her chin.  “We wanted them so much.”

“They’re thriving.  Thanks to you.” Bette reflected.

    1. Dude if this is what season 3 has inspired you to write so be it. The tale was well written and sad yet it had a sense of calm I fear will not be found in the show this season. As much as many of us like to read stories with the couple together I also love to read stories where characters reflect and process what’s going on in their lives. So if you write like that then I will read and cherish it. Good first try btw don’t disable the rating for fear that we’ll slaughter you with a 1.

    2. I, for one, believe their relationship on TV is salvageable. They are going through difficult times b/c IC wants them to. But she can rescue them and it doesn’t have to be logical b/c many things on the show aren’t.

    3. Maybe without Bette to help her with Angie.and she has no one to vent her angry on,and use as a doormat she will come to her sense,I’m afraid Bette has taken all she can take. You write like you want to write, Its your story and we all will read it. thank for posting thanks

    4. keep going with the story. I will always think they will end up together on the show. They may go through a lot of hell first. So my B & T heart..can take this..it actually helps. thanks for writing for us.

    5. First i have to agree with slipperynipple in her comment so no need to repeat it…and tho im trying my very best to be optimistic about these two making it…well im not giving up hope yet but so far you story seems to be hitting the nail right on the head…would love you to write more on this, yeah it was sad but it was good too…thanks

    6. I just hate how everyone gives up on them!! The whole relationship with them in season 3 seems to far fetched. I mean Tina has always been completely in love and then all the sudden she’s into eye rolls at Bette. I still believe that they are a great couple, and hate when writers give up on them….have a little faith!!!

    7. Why did you stop?…why?…this was sad but good writing. Please continue. Will they find their way back? I agree they should take some time apart to be happy…but you are capable of bringing them back to see what’s really important.
