    First year-Chapter 31 and 32 (again)

    Chapter 31

I was restless when I got home after rounds with so many emotions running through me. I was still high from the joy of the party, then down about Dylan, then excited about getting control of the money from the trust fund and buying the penthouse condo. I passed out when I got home and missed several calls. My mother had called to remind me of meeting with the trust managers and financial planners in the morning, then the meeting at the attorney’s office for the closing for the condo. Carmen called to see what I was doing for dinner. She came over and we talked at length about the phone call with Dylan and joked about my cleaning house of just about everything related to Dylan. She was very much the sympathetic ear and literally allowed me to cry on her shoulder but strange as it seemed, I didn’t need to cry very much. I was sad, but there were no more tears to be shed. I did feel that as Dylan said, I had moved on, I’d had my closure.

I had made arrangements with my team to take the morning off for some personal business. But I was on call that night so I had to return to work once everything was through.  So sad to say but the first night that I owned my condo penthouse I would be at the hospital.  It felt like the longest call night ever. I couldn’t wait to get home to my new palace in the sky. My furniture would not arrive for another day but I wanted very much to sleep there. Post-call, I sat out on the balcony on the chaise lounge to watch the sunset. Before I knew it, I had drifted off to sleep. The chill of the night air woke me from my deep but short post-call sleep. I was horribly disoriented when I woke up, but laughed at myself when I realized what happened. Reluctantly, I drove home, but before leaving, I met with the concierge to assist me with my plans for my run with Bette. Although it might not be appropriate to call it such, in my head and all the preparations I was making for it, made it very much a date.
