    Marriage does not a relationship make.

    Bette watched the blonde sleep.  She exhaled a contented sigh as she stroked the bare arm Tina had flung across her waist holding her near to her even as she slept.  The sound of the surf still startled her when she woke or when the house was quiet. It took her a minute or two to identify the sound. They had only moved in two weeks ago.

     

    It was the quintessential beach house. Dramatic views of the Pacific were to be had from the living room, dining room and decks that abounded.  Of course all the bedrooms were on the ocean side of the house.  Off the kitchen was a large herb garden. The garden was well thought out and carefully maintained over the years.

     

     Bette smiled as she remembered how excited Tina had been when she first saw it.  Tina for all her Hollywood polish was a lover of soil and green growing things.  There was a large bricked and low walled patio that overlooked the ocean, perfect for entertaining or a quiet family dinner.  A trail led directly from their property to the beach which was less than two hundred yards away.

     

     All their loves coalesced in this house, their house.  Selling ‘her house’ for this one was not as hard as she imagined when the idea first came up.  The deed to this property was in both their names.  The deed was a reflection of a deeper equality that existed between the two of them now.

     

    She was not aware that hazel eyes regarded her so lost was she in her thoughts.  Tina reached up to brush her hair out of her face and their eyes met.  The love that she felt for this woman pierced her like a sword. Her breath caught.  She could not count the number of times that a simple glance had stolen her breath since they reunited.

     

    Tina just as affected by her lover reached and pulled her down for a good morning kiss threading her fingers through the brunette locks. 

     

    They both moaned as the kiss deepened. 

     

    It was part of who they were to each other. A simple look could fire their passion out of nowhere.  Tearing herself away from the blonde who was like a drug to her body, her heart, and her mind she asked the question which had been brewing in her for weeks… months.
