    Coming Home

    The drive home had Bette thinking about Sharon and the book she gave her.  Patience, understanding, and a willingness to stop if need be.  Never assume that anything that was okay before is still okay.   Leave the light on.  Tinas fear, especially fear of pain, darkness, or suffocation.   Her inability to handle certain positions without panicking.  Being unable to or refusing to take joy or pleasure in the experience.  Being ashamed or feeling indecent or dirty for participating.  Being confused about what is pleasant and what is painful.  Bette had read that book repeatedly.  She felt she was ready and knew what to expect.  Tina knew that Sharon had given it to her.  The same book Jennifer had given Tina after Bette was raped.  How to be Intimate after Rape.

     

    It is one thing to have been raped. However, to have been raped by someone that looked exactly like your lover, your partner, your wife of 9 years is another.  That has been the hardest part for Tina.  Tina had to find her way back to Bette.  She just didnt know how.

     

    They pulled into the driveway and parked.  Tina reached to open her door as she felt Bettes hand.  Could we just sit here for a moment, Bette asked.  Sure babe.  Is something wrong?  Tina asks. 

     

    Bette:  No, I just wanted a moment alone to tell you something.

     

    Tina:  What is it babe?

     

    Bette:  I just wanted to tell you how much I love you and thank you for such a wonderful evening.  You have no idea how special it made me feel.  And I wanted to ask you something?

     

    Tina:  What baby? 

     

    Bette:  May I kiss you?

     

    Tina:  Of course you may.

     

    Bette leaned in and kissed Tinas lips softly.  More than anything Bette wanted Tina to feel safe.  Tina reached her hand behind Bettes head and pulled her in closer and deepened their kiss.  Then Tina pulled away.

     

    Tina:  I’m sorry.  Its just so dark out here. 

     

    Bette:  Its ok baby.  Lets go in so Joe can go home. 

     

    Tina:  Ok.  Youre not mad?

     

    Bette:  Baby, no.  I’m not mad. 

     

    After Joe left, Bette and Tina were in their bedroom having kissed their children good night.  Bette took her jacket off and hung it in the closet.  She sat down on the bed and removed her shoes.  Tina asks Bette if she could unzip her dress.  Bette walked over to Tina to her side instead of directly behind her.  Looking into Tinas eyes Bette gently reached for Tinas zipper and pulled it down then let go.  Tina leaned up and kissed Bette on the cheek saying, thanks babe.  Bette moved next to her closet and removed her pants and placed them on the rack.  Then she removed her shirt and placed it on a hanger.  Removing her bra, she pulled a tank top over her head then stepped into her shorts.
