    Friends ch. 21

    The Same Day, Morning, CAC.

Bette drives with haste, and arrives at the CAC just in time. She was never late or on time, she was always early and today was no different. She walked into the building, briefcase and coffee in hand ready for the day. She walks towards her office and James trails behind her, her schedule and a pen in hand.

“I wanted to remind you of your one o’clock with Estelle Sherman, she’s bringing by some of the photographs you ordered. Jeanie Lovegood’s list is being sent over of how she wants her work put up. She doesn’t care about how it’s set up just which of her paintings go together on the same display. Oh and you told me to remind you about having a bouquet of roses sent to Tina’s office. I already placed the order, it’s being sent as we speak.”

“James, you are the best, thank you,” Bette said and sat her stuff down in her office, and her cell phone rang, Tina, “hey Tee.”

“Hey baby, the flowers are so beautiful, you didn’t have to.”

“I know, but I wanted to let you know that I support you in your decision and to say congratulations.”

“Thanks Bette, but I know you support me.”

    “I’m happy for you.”

“Hey Bette, they’re ready,” James says poking his head in her office, and Bette nods.

“Baby, I have to go, call me on your lunch?”

    “Of course, love you baby.”

“Love you too Tee,” she said and hung up. Bette walked to the conference room where Bert and Franklin were conversing.

“Ah Bette darling,” Bert said and stood as she entered the room. He gave her a warm hand shake and signaled her to a seat, “I wish these were better circumstances, but I have something that you need to see.”

“It arrived about an hour ago,” Franklin said as Bert popped a dvd into the plasma. They all turned their attention to the tv, clearly the short clip was of the conversation between Bette and Faye Buckley at the Zoo two days earlier.

“Oh, so, according to the CAC, the world that we live in is a godless one.”

Faye asked Bette; clearly she’s caught off guard.
