Bette’s heart was heavy the night before they left. She and Tina made love that night, she needed her wife’s loving embrace. As they cuddled, Tina could sense Bette’s anxiety.

“Babe, what’s the matter,” she whispered, and Bette faced her, “talk to me.”

“I’m nervous about going to New York.”

“Why?”

“I’m scared about what we’ll find, and how it will affect you.”

“Don’t be worried, it’ll be ok. We all have a past, and we all had our first loves when we were teenagers.”

“I just don’t want you to feel like you’re the silver medal,” Bette said, running her fingers through Tina’s blonde hair, “because you’re not. You are my gold medal, the person I was meant to be with forever. You are the love of my life, and nothing we find will ever change that.”

“I know babe, no matter what we find, we’ll get through. It’s in the past, and I kind of want to see what you were like as a teenager.”

“I was a shy little girl, who went to private school. I wasn’t much of a teenager thanks to Melvin.”

“Private school? Did you wear a plaid skit?”

“Of course, it was white and green plaid and we had to wear a button up shirt and blazer.”

“Hmm, school girl, that’s kind of a sexy look,” Tina said, a smile on her face.

“You like that Tee,” Bette said, rolling on top of her.

“Oh yeah, you in a school girl uniform, stockings and high heeled stilettos, that sounds super fucking sexy.”

They made love once more, even though they had a stressful next couple of days, nothing could pull them apart. Kit was on time the next morning to babysit Angie for them, so unfortunately she was asleep when they left. They both kissed their angel and left for the airport. Their flight was leaving at noon and Bette was on pins and needles and Alexander was very anxious. Alexander slept the whole flight while Bette and Tina chatted about their trip; Bette was still a bit nervous.

They caught a cab from the airport and rode in an anxiety filled silence. They went to their hotel first to drop their bags off, and then they were to meet with Stephen and his attorney. They met up with the both of them for dinner. They talked briefly about what was to take place the next day. Stephen had hired a shipping company to help with packing everything so it can be shipped cross country. After that they talked about art and Tina’s work in the movie business. After dinner they popped by the gallery and Bette checked up on some things while Alexander and Tina viewed some of the showcases.
