    Friendship Foundation Chapter 24

"That fucking cunt," Tina said quietly. She took the red pen in her hand and circled a paragraph in the contract she was reviewing.
"I beg your pardon?" Bette glanced up, unable to hide the shock of hearing Tina utter that particular phrase.
"I had a very clear conversation with one of the attorneys from another studio," Tina started. "And she’s trying to sneak in this clause on the assumption no one will read the contract carefully."
"That’s playing a bit dirty," Bette said. "Are you going to call her on it?"
"Of course I am," Tina replied. "The only problem is it’s Eric’s sister."
"So you have to tread lightly?"
"She has always been difficult to deal with," Tina said. "Treading lightly does not pierce her armor. I’m going to be blunt and let her know I see through her tactics."
"What clause did she try to sneak in that has you so annoyed?"
"The two studios are co-producing a film," Tina started. "And she’s written the agreement such that we take all the financial risk, but we share any resulting profit equally."
    "Who would agree to that?"
"Only someone who hasn’t read the contract," Tina said angrily. "She assumed because of everything that’s been going on, I would take her at her word and just let the contract go for signature without review."
"You think she’s taking advantage of a tumultuous personal circumstance to advance her career?" Bette asked.
"I have no doubt that’s exactly what she’s doing," Tina replied. "Eric confided in her, and when we met last week she put on a big show of being so supportive and asking if I was doing okay. She was just trying to gain the upper hand."
"Tina, I have never seen you so angry," Bette said. She didn’t want to say it was arousing to see her this way, but that’s exactly what it was.
"I understand when people try to gain an advantage in business, but she’s basically trafficking in my personal turmoil in order to undermine me," Tina said. "We have a huge meeting with the boards of both studios tomorrow and I have no choice but to call her on it."

    1. I don’t know how its possible for you to lose readers when the writing is just about as good as it gets. if not better. Your style of writing isn’t always hearts and flowers, but more necessity of the way of life that’s what I like. Its doesn’t completely bring you into a fantasy world, but a present world where this could all happen. Love this story and probably many more to come, I hope.

    2. Are you kidding me? Losing readers? I’ve been stalking this page waiting for your updates! Another fine chapter, JKS. Wrap it up if you must, but I could go on reading it for years!

    3. They’re still getting to know each other, even though they’ve realised they have a pretty deep connection. Bette’s just experienced “riled up” Tina… there must be many more versions of each other to meet. I’m enjoying this story, and I always enjoy what you write. Thanks, jks! :)

    4. Aww I don’t want you to finish soon. Reading about their everyday life is so adorable. This truly is a fantastic story and I look forward to every post you make. Thank you.

    5. I don’t think ur losing readers…the site is. It’s almost inevitable…and so very sad for the rest of us! But just so you know…mmm…I skip over other posts to read yours FIRST!I’ll go back and read the others – but – like I said …you can write the phone book!!!!…and by all means- draaaaaag this out as long as you like!!! Please don’t stop! We need you!

    6. I love your writing. I know all things must come to an end, but I’ll be very sorry to lose this story. I like the day to day feeling of Bette and Tina living together.

    7. Thank you, Swimmie, for such a delightful story! I don’t think anyone wants it to end. Eric’s sister needs a Tina take down! When is Bette going to suggest hiring movers (she’s just not a u-haul kind of girl). :)

    8. Wonderful chapter. Realy do like to read and see how they spend their everyday lives together. This story is wonderful on so many levels. It is really great to see how they live their lives together and apart and how it makes their love stronger. Really hope you don’t end this story too soon, we all love it and want you to continue until you bring it to its logical conclusion, not a hurried one because it seems that people are not reading, we’re all still here waiting for you to post. Most of us realize you have a life aside from ff and we try not to pressure you to post every or every other day. We don’t want to do that, so please continue writing and we will be waiting here for you to post so we can devour it. Thanks for posting.

    9. Just re-read for the 3rd time. And this time the thought occured ‘Hmm I wonder what there convo would be like if Tina asks about “toys”. Also it can lead to a naughty chapter….. Thanks again!!!

    10. Wow an extra bonus as I had just caught up with the other chapters earlier in the day. I will echo the previous praises and hope you keep on going as well. While I can appreciate the build up and ultimate “climax” – pardon the pun – like real life, that is only one part, all the rest of the stuff makes up the whole.

    12. I’m still here, JKS! Like most other readers, I enjoy their day-to-day existence together. This is what we wanted from TLW: a loving, stable B&T. Their stability could have held the center as the other characters spun in and out of orbit around them. I didn’t need all that disfunction and hate chez “Portard.” This Tina has some weather in her personality and even at this early stage in her coming-out process, she’s not afraid to take the lead in their intimate encounters. Evidently, she’s not afraid assert herself in the boardroom either. I suspect that Eric’s sister is going to get her a** handed to her on a silver platter. Bette Porter as panacea? If they bottled her, I’d buy it! Thanks for posting!

    13. I just want to get this off my chest: I HATED all the stupid, ill-conceived changes that TLW put the characters Bette Porter and Tina Kennard through. It all seemed arbitrary and unnecessary. I kept watching despite all the DREADFUL plot twists that were imposed on them. Not one couple had a happy relationship on that show. The original characters were great but, after the pilot, insanity ensued. Where was the studio oversight to put the brakes on a show that spun wildly out of control? Will there ever be another Bette Porter or an actress willing to commit herself so fully to the role? /rant over. Thank you for your story. I should just forget about the series and enjoy fanfic as stand-alone stories. Friendship Foundation is a good one. I like this B&T and their world.

    14. You know when I got to the last line, the image of a two-toothed Spongebob repeatedly chanting “It’s the best day ever!” suddenly crossed my mind. Out of the blue, for reasons I still don’t know. =) Loved the “Best Weekend Ever,” jks. This bunch can also be called the “Up All Night” or “Just Can’t Get Enough” chapters. Looking forward to the rest of the story. You can write about the couple taking turns reading the phonebook or watching the paint dry and I will still gobble them up with gusto. Thanks a lot for writing and sharing this lovely story, jks! Please write on and cheers! =)
