    Friendship Foundation – Epilogue

    Previously (March 7, 1997)
"It’s official," Tina said as she walked in the front door. "I gave up my apartment keys."
"What a crazy month," Bette replied, walking over to greet Tina. "I’m glad it’s all over with."
"No turning back now," Tina said.
"I have no interest in turning back," Bette said. "In fact, follow me."
Tina went with Bette into the dining room and as soon as the lights were flicked on, the enthusiastic greeting met them.
"Surprise!" Alice, Dana, Shane and Kit were all gathered around the table, lifting glasses in congratulations.
"I knew you were up to something, I just didn’t know what!" Tina slid her hand into Bette’s and leaned closer for a kiss.
"Okay, okay, company’s here girls, save it for later," Alice interrupted. "Let’s get this party started."
"Please tell me you had this catered?" Tina asked quietly.
"And someone is coming to clean up after we’re done," Bette confirmed.
"Is it any wonder I love you?" Tina asked, offering Bette another kiss.
    "No wonder at all."
They sat down with their guests for what they were sure would be the first of many family dinners in the home they now shared with each other.
Sixteen years later March 7, 2013
Bette rolled onto her side and started kissing the bare skin of Tina’s back.
"I don’t want you to stop, but Angie could be up soon," Tina cuddled back into the contact.
"You know what today is?" Bette moved up to whisper in her ear.
    "Thursday?"
Tina felt Bette’s hand move up her bare thigh.
"That’s only partly right," Bette replied. "Sixteen years ago today, you officially moved in."
"Sixteen years ago at Christmas, I unofficially moved in," Tina commented. "Just how many anniversaries are you keeping track of?"
Tina rolled onto her back and Bette moved to rest between her legs.
"There are countless occasions to celebrate," Bette offered. "Do you know what May 15th will be?"
"We don’t have any anniversaries in May," Tina said confidently.
"But it will have been 200 months since we met," Bette replied. "So while technically not an anniversary, still an important milestone in our relationship history."

    1. Just love the interaction among the three of them. Bette properly embarrassing Angie, Tina trying to divert attention to another topic and Angie realizing and verbalizing her parents for each other and for her. Thanks for fulfilling your promise of 32 chapters. You can write and have a great sense of humor. ;-)

    2. “Who can sleep through that?” Angie asked. “Seriously mother.” – “Oh oh, she ‘mothered’ you,” Bette said. – – – lol, great stuff !

    3. Great epilogue! I love this twelve year old Angie. Even better getting a glimpse of Bette and Tina still together and happy after there reconciliation! Hope to read you back here after a short writing break! Thank you for your time.

    4. I was going to read this in the morning, but couldn’t resist. I love that they’re still in love after 16 years and have a kid with a good sence of humor. Don’t be gone too long cause we all love your writing.

    5. You mean other people were fake flirting and fake proposing marriage? I really need to step up my fake game to set myself apart! I’ll hold your umbrella when it rains, I’ll carry the grocery bags at the farmer’s market and I’ll even let you decide which way the toilet paper should hang! Thanks again for the time you spend writing for us Enjoy your break and special times with your family.

    6. You say it’s the end but clearly your adoring fans think otherwise ;0) Loved this series Swimmie! Angie made me laugh out loud. I remember the “sex talks” with my mom. Embarrassed the hell out of me as a kid but later I was grateful for her openness. As others have mentioned, it’s nice to read a healthy version of Tina and Bette (the potential was always there too bad IC didn’t run with it). I’ll look forward to future posts. I really enjoy your writing.

    7. Thanks for posting this epilogue. It’s good to see they’re still going strong and providing Angie with a secure loving environment. Enjoy your break but please don’t make it too long :)

    8. Awww, this is sweet, funny and embarrassing at the same time. Given their strong foundation, I had a feeling this version of Bette and Tina will have a totally different and far better romantic history than the ones on the show. That sweet morning interlude perfectly captured their enduring love. This Angie is like the older version of the Angie in “A Second Chance at Forever” and I love her! I have many friends who cringe at the thought of their parents having sex and I have friends whose children have caught them having sex. Awkward and embarrassing for both parties but they will all learn to get past it. Parents have sex, it happens. But if Tina will keep her promise to be quieter, Angie will be less embarrassed. Or maybe she can use a headset. I LOL at Bette’s suggestion to soundproof their bedroom. The “soundproofing” line reminded me of two of the loveliest and funniest stories I’ve ever read here: Alchemy’s “Just the Girl” and Spumoni’s “Backstory”. It’s been a pleasure reading this story, your writing, jks. Many thanks for your creativity and generosity! By all means, take a break. But I hope you won’t stay away too long. Take care, jks. Cheers! =)

    9. Finally! I just finished this amazing story after reading off and on all day. I got interupted some many times today. Now, I”m off to read another story until I fall asleep. Thanks!
