    Chapter 16 – Wrapping Your Arms Around a Precious Moment

    Bette woke up alone. Feeling across the bed Bette confirmed that she was indeed alone which only acted as a reminder to herself that it was better this way. After her brief experience last night if anything it confirmed in Bettes mind that she is better off alone than being with the wrong person. After having the real thing any other activity was just so much less in meaning.

    Bette was running a bit late as she made her way to the CAC. Kit had called this morning while she was getting dressed to have their daily check in. Bette sensed that Kit had some other worries going on so Bette spent the extra time reassuring Kit that all was well. The good news for Bette is that Kit invited her to dinner tomorrow night. Home cooking now who can pass that up so Bette readily agreed.

    Bette had just entered the parking garage of the CAC when her cell went off. Seeing it was Shane Hey there stud, did you make it home last night or do I not want to ask?

    You dont want to ask, but Im going to be home tonight watching March Madness. Its going to be me and a few other girls that I dont think you know, but I would like you to come. What do you think? Shane asks in an expectant voice.

    Well, I dont know. Can I call you later? James has got something funky on my schedule for this afternoon and Im not sure what it is or how long it will take. If it turns out OK I would love to come. Bette responds. Really Shane I will. Trying to let Shane know she is sincere.

    Shane wanting to connect with Bette says Well call me later, if you cant come by maybe we can hook up tomorrow sometime, OK?

    Bette is left thinking God what is it today first Kit and now Shane but only saying Sure Shane, Ill call you later. With that Bette hangs up and makes her way into the CAC.

    Running a little late Bette was immediately thrown into her schedule which seemed a little hectic today. Walking in and past James desk, James offers Bette a cup of coffee and advises her that he put her first appointment in the conference room. With that Bettes morning started and she would not get a break until well after noon.
