    Guilt Intrinsic – Short Story

After having adequately informed herself, she moved into the kitchen to prepare dinner for Tina, hoping to help calm her senses with a hearty meal first.

Tina got home late, dropping her things near the door as she let out a deep sigh. "Loooong day," she chuckled, walking over to Bette and wrapping her arms around her wife’s waist. "Hey hunny."

Bette smiled, thinking of how to approach the subject of her earlier discovery. She continued to stir while she thought, realizing she should have already spoken. "Hey baby … how was your day?"

"Are you okay?" Tina chuckled again, squeezing her arms a bit tighter and then letting them sit loosely around Bette’s waist. "What’s wrong?"

"Let’s … eat first," Bette smiled, turning to the oblivious blond before her, "And then I’ll tell you all about it, okay?"

"Alright …" Tina smiled, squinting her eyes in analysis of Bette’s body language and facial expression.

"Dinner’s ready," Bette laughed, bringing their plates to the table.

Supper went very well, and Bette let Tina vent about her less-than-perfect day at work while she mulled over what she needed to say. After both finishing and cleaning up, they went to the living room for what Bette had promised to reveal.

"Well, out with it," Tina smiled as soon as Bette had fallen onto the couch at her side. "What’s been bothering you?"

"This is … gonna be hard to say," Bette admitted, biting her lip for a moment and then looking into Tina’s eyes. "Babe?"

"What is it?" Tina asked, her smile faded. She could tell there was something very serious upsetting Bette.

Deep breath in, deep breath out. "… I found your story."

Tina stared into Bette’s eyes, sure she could tell if it had been one very secretive plot she had developed and written herself. Her heart started to beat furiously, but she tried to play cool. "Wh … what story?" Then she tried laughing it off. "I have lots of stories lying around, Bette. I love to read."

"And write," Bette added, trying to hint at it without embarrassing her wife.

    Tina’s eyes widened. "Bette … you didn’t-"

    "Listen, I read it, but-"

"How dare you!" Tina shouted, getting up from the couch. She found herself stepping back from her wife, a look of confusion and anger covering her features. "I … I … you …" Her breaths were forced out with each syllable.

    1. I love that you aren’t afraid to tackle the topics that most people are uncomfortable with and would rather sweep under the rug. Great writers don’t concern themselves with people’s comfort levels. They write for themselves, not for the critics. Good for you and keep ’em coming!

    2. Wow! Way to handle this subject. I don’t know anyone that fantasizes about this, but I’m not surprised that there are women out there that do. Bette handled it very smoothly and I was very happy about Tina’s reaction to her confession. I don’t anything wrong with role playing, what people do behind closed doors is their business, as long as no one gets hurt it’s cool with me. Thanks for the post grindright.
