    Half Bliss- Chapter 8

Curiosity kills the cat. The philosophy behind it ever so complicated. The one thing she could remember and kept recalling was an old conversation with her college friends. They were discussing about how this proverb was based on years of understanding on the human mind. Knowing is hard. The knowledge stays with you forever when it is best left alone, forgotten. Wanting to know is harder than actually knowing because all you can grasp is this empty hope and dream. Usually before a person asks a question, they are already anticipating the answer they want to hear. It is tough but the truth however pure and appealing still colours red to the perception.

    –

“I know…” Her whisper barely carried though the tension in the air. Alice and Shane froze on the spot, trying hard to find a quick save.

“It’s not what you think, Bette.” Alice blurted out in all her nervousness. As soon as the words registered, Bette’s blood boiled and her eyes turned icy.

“What do I think? What should I think then? You’re telling me? I said I know, alright.” Breathing out her frustration, Bette swayed to her sides a bit. Her head was suddenly floating and her body lost its strength. The girls caught her just in time before she met the ground like a trail of domino.

“Bette! Bette! Wake up!” Alice enveloped her in a warm hug and gently slapped her face while Shane started calling for help.

“I know…” Those were her last words before the night clocked into her.

    –

“Kit.” A name that she had called out to with a lot more affection, now only served as a word of acknowledgement.

“Tina, what are you doing here?” She was caught off guard in her newly changed pajamas.

“I need to talk to you again… It’s about Bette.” The older woman sighed and pulled the door wider to let Tina in.

“Can’t it have waited another night?” Kit’s exhaustion wearing thin on the little ounce of patience she had left in her.

“I’m sorry… Should I come back tomorrow?” Tina was already making a move to the door, shaking her head as she mentally scolded herself for just showing up. Of course she’s mad. The way I’ve treated Bette back then and now what? I’m all about getting back together again now?

    1. What made Bette faint? I hope nothing serious… Kit might not let Bette live alone anymore. If Tina finds out, she might not let Bette be on her own either… Thanks for the update
