Bette turns and looks at Tina, who’s on the brink of tears, as she listens to Bette’s answer.
Bette then looks away and shrugs. “That was my thinking the first year and a half…. after that, I had pretty much accepted that you weren’t coming back, but I didn’t really know what to do with that acceptance. I mean, in my head, I knew, but I guess my heart still had a little catching up to do…… so even though I talked to a real estate agent and did all the things that needed to be done to put it on the market, I never did take that final step, I didn’t feel ready at that time, so I just did nothing….”
Tina gulps and looks away. “Were you still living there?”
Bette gently shakes her head. “No, I could only stand living there six months after you left…I rented a condo; it was too painful to walk through that door every day……”
Silence sits between them for a beat before Bette continues. “Anyway, when the whole Air BnB craze hit, Kit, with her badass business savvy self, convinced me to rent the house out….so that’s what I did for a few years,….it worked out great for a while, but I got tired of all the headaches that came with it so I stopped doing it not long before you came back to town….so now it’s just…there..”
They lock eyes, giving each other mirroring melancholy yet sentimental smiles. No words are spoken; neither of them feels the need to speak another word. They look away, and the comfortable silence returns as they return to nursing their drinks.
A few beats later, Bette sighs deeply. “So, in other news, before I came out here, Lenore grabbed the mic and began an acapella rendition of ‘I Touch Myself’….”
Tina snorts in laughter, almost spitting out her wine.
They share a hearty laugh as the rowdy party continues behind them….

Foyer….
Later, the party has dwindled to only the gang.
Alice dances as she slides on her jacket. As the rest of the gang joins Alice in her silly antics.
Tina leans against the wall and laughs as her tipsy friends dance with no music playing.
Alice dances over to Tina and places both hands on Tina’s shoulders. “I may be a little tipsy….”

OMG…Bette came BACK!!! I can’t hardly wait to see what happens next!!!! YES, Bette and Tina KISSED and got heated in the kitchen, acknowledged something is going on between them and they want to talk about it!!!!
Bette came back a knocking and Tina put on the Marvin Gaye, LET’S GET IT ON!!! OUR Girls are Jumping in Arms and Kicking Doors Closed, I want them back together so badly!!!
I think Shane suspected something was up with Bette’s car still there and I can imagine Tina was still a lil flush and heated. Glad she found those keys and high tailed out of there!!! (hahaha)
