“Yes, I know what you mean.” Bette responses with a serious face.
“Well you have found a new partner, for you it easy. You have always been open about your sexuality and you attract all women so no problem for you.” Tina says with an airy voice, hiding the pain she feels in her heart when she says it.
“You have no idea, T. You have no idea how hard it is for me.” Bette says softly as a tear slowly starts to run down her cheek. “ Believe me, I do Bette.” Tina replies softly as she looks Bette deep in her eyes as tears well up in her eyes too. They hold out their arms at the same time and step forward to embrace each other. They hold each other tight as they cry softly with their faces in the nape of each others neck.

Bette is following her with her eyes, swallowing hard, pushing away the disappointment of having to let go of Tina and knowing that she needs to act quickly to keep grip on the situation. So she slowly walks towards the kitchen and is formulating her words in her mind. “ Actually no, T. I have no plans to return to France till after the new year.” Bette says as she puts her hand on the door post to look cool. But inside her nerves are on a rollercoaster in her stomach. She knows it is essential to convince Tina to bring her to her mother’s home. “ Oh” is all Tina can say, she is too confused and is focussing her eyes on the pouring of the water, she does not want to look at Bette.She scrapes her throat “ Ugh.. so what are your plans? I mean, I need to get ready, you see, I need to catch the bus tomorrow and I am not ready with packing.” she says daringly. “ Well, T. I was actually thinking to drive you to your mom’s house.” Bette replies in the same daring way.
 

Tina’s hands stopped pouring the water “ What!” she says, as she turns around, facing Bette. “ You think that after our talk I will just let you drive me to my mom’s house, like everything is okay now?” she says loud, inside she feels her heart beating of anxiety but she doesn’t want Bette to know yet, how happy these words make her. “ Yes, you see, I have no other plans, and you need to get to your mother, so why don’t we do the logical thing, I drive you there, we have to opportunity to talk more, and you won’t be alone and we both won’t be alone for the New Year. I think these are all very reasonable things to consider, don’t you think?” Bette says quickly in a convincing voice, she is taking the lead back, she needs to take control so Tina can not refuse her offer. Tina looks puzzled and bites her lip as she thinks over the reasons, even though deep down she knows that she will not refuse Bette’s offer. But she is too proud and don’t want Bette to believe that she is having the control of this conversation and that Tina is more than willing to let Bette come with her.
