Hold a place for me Ch. 7

Alice: “Wow, you look pretty damn good to have spit one out. You hear that TK maybe she can give you some pointers.”

Tina just rolls her eyes. She’s really quite bored with Alice’s inquisitive attack on Melanie. Tina looks back across the bar to Bette’s table, but notices that she is gone.

Tina: “Hey guys, I’ll be right back.” Tina gets up and walks to the bar and stands next to Kit.

    Tina: “Hey Kit.”

    Kit spins around, “Hey girl.”

Tina: “Um….where did Bette go? I was hoping to maybe tell her hi.”

Kit: “I don’t know. I guess she left. She’s been itching to leave ever since she got here, but I thought I had convinced her to stay. Then I go to get drinks and poof she’s gone. I swear you two are gonna be the death of me. All this damn drama….I’m too old for this shit.”

Suddenly Tina feels the converstaion gearing towards one of Kits many lectures so she excuses herself before Kit can continue, “Well, when you talk to her just tell her I said hello. Bye Kit.”

Kit just sighs as Tina walks back to her table.

    Alice: “Where’d you go TK?”

Tina: “Uh…I just went to say hi to Kit.”

Alice: “Oh….well get comfortable they’re about to start again.”

Just at that time the lights dimmed throughout the bar and Alice clapped with giddy excitement. The crowd anxiously waited for the music to begin, but instead a lone figure walked slowly out on the stage. Tina squinted in the darkness to see and she almost thought she could identify the lean silhouette gliding across the stage. The figure’s voice began to speak, “This is for someone who means more to me than life itself though she doesn’t believe it.” At that moment Tina knew. A single spotlight slowly came to life and focused itself on Bette as the music began to play. Alice looked at Tina, “Tell me she isn’t.” But Tina was too lost in the moment to respond. Never in her life had she ever seen Bette do something so drastic. Bette swayed gracefully to the tune. She slowly raised the microphone and started to sing,
