I booked a table for Tina and I at Miguels. Ive only been there once or twice cos it was a bit far from where I was staying. But those times I was there I remembered enjoying the food. Tina was beautiful that night I still remember it. She was probably the most beautiful woman in the restaurant; all heads turn in our direction. She was dressed in a black number, bareback. I couldnt take my eyes off her the moment she came in and I probably looked like a goof when I couldnt make a proper conversation the first few minutes she was there.

But something was odd about her tonight. I was worried about her and I thought she didnt have anything to eat until now. What surprised me about how she was acting tonight was when she told me she saw me with Mel at lunch. I thought everything went well. And I thought I sensed jealousy coming from her.

Tina: Just an old friend?

Wait a minute. Is that Tina being jealous? Am I listening right here? It couldnt be.

Bette: Yes Ive known her since art school. We were close once but work just took priority

Tina: I see. So you dated her once?

Bette: Well we went out for about a year but that was all water under the bridge now. Were better off as friends. I mean were friends now.

Tina: Oh ok.

Ok now this is rather odd. Now Im really worried about her. I noticed her hand was trembling on the table so I reached for it. I thought she was going to pull back but she let me touched it. I placed my hand on top of hers and looked at her rather confused and searching for answers.

Bette: Tina? Are you ok? I mean where is this going? Am I missing something here?

I was rather confused as to what brought about this side of her. To tell the truth I would be very pleased to know if she was jealous, not because I want her to be but because it shows that she has feelings for me as I clearly do for her. Her eyes were staring back at me but I could see she was million miles away; thinking or searching for the right things to say. Finally she began to speak

Tina: Im

I was so engrossed in wanting to know what was wrong with Tina I didnt realize someone approached our table. Tina immediately removed her hand from my contact as soon as she heard the voice.

Eric: Hello ladies. I thought it was you Bette, how are you?

I straightened myself and stood up to reach Erics hand and gave it a good handshake.

Bette: Hi Eric. Im so sorry I didnt know you were joining us. And really sorry for taking so much of Tinas time from you. Would you care to join us? (God please say no! I cant stand knowing that youre the person Tina goes home to let alone have you sit with Tina and me at dinner)

Eric: That would be an understatement Bette

What? What is he on about?

Bette: Im sorry?

Eric: Yes Bette thats all youll be; sorry. Home wrecker!

My god what is going on here? He didnt think I was taking Tina away from him now did he? Although that would very much please me ***** Porter this isnt the time!

Bette: Eric I think you got the wrong idea here. Tina and I are just having dinner that is all.

Eric: Dinner? Just dinner?

Tina: Eric please Im

Bette: Eric its not what it looks like. Please dont make a scene.

Eric: Bette, all those time Ive known you, you think Id be stupid enough to make a scene?

Tina: Eric I think you better go

Eric: Go where Tina? Its not like youll be home when I get there

Bette: Eric, I promise you Ill see to it that she gets home safely. I mean if you like you can stay here until were done or I can leave. This is not what you think this is.

Tina: Bette, you dont un

Eric: Well well! She didnt tell you did she? You didnt, did you baby?

Eric was laughing now. This is so embarrassing! What the ***** is wrong with everybody? And what is wrong with Tina? Why is she acting like this? Did something happen between these two? And what is up with Eric? I dont see him as the jealous type. And what was he referring to? I looked at Tina who had her head bowed.

Bette: She didnt need to tell me anything Eric. Please, were just having dinner. If you have problems with her dont bring it up here. (I looked at Tina who looked up at me) I mean I can go if you want me to go so you can work this whatever this is with him, Tina.

Eric: You think you can be her knight in shining armour Bette? What could you possibly give her? (He leaned closer to me and whispered in my ear) You cant even ***** her! You *****! (His breath reeked. He must have been drinking!)

What? This has gone too far for my patience. Anyone who knows the real Bette Porter would know her limit.

Bette: Eric? Youve been drinking. Tina do you want to leave or

Tina: Yes Bette, we should go.

Eric: Where the ***** are you taking her Bette?

Tina: Eric could you just leave us alone? What the ***** are you doing here?

Eric: I followed you!

Tina: Are you stalking me Eric? God I cant believe you!!! Bette lets go!

I dont get it, what is going on here? Tina is avoiding Eric and Eric is clearly drunk. I apologized to the manager and paid my bills. The restaurant manager stopped Eric from following us. As I walked Tina to her car I could hear Eric in the background telling me it wasnt over yet. Tina got safely in her car and as I was about to close her door

Tina: Bette?

Bette: Yes Tina?

Tina: Im really really sorry about this.

Bette: Its ok Tina. (I looked into her adorable eyes I could tell something was terribly wrong). Is there something wrong? Is there something I should know? What happened back there?

Tina: I

Bette: Do you want to talk about it? We can go someplace else

Tina: Ok Bette. (I could see her hands trembling on the wheel, god she is in no state to drive!)

Bette: Ill drive ok? We can get your car later when youre ready.

Tina climbed out of her car and got to the passenger seat of mine. Tonight was like a date from *****; my date wasnt but her boyfriend was! We didnt even get to have dinner!! The drive was silent. Tina was staring out the window her facial expression didnt change. She looked rather tired. I wanted to know what was going on. Why was Eric acting like that? Didnt he know Tina was going out tonight? Is he just being a jealous boyfriend? Or is there more to it? Either way, I intend to find out
