“What do you mean? Some kind of business dealing?”
“No Bette. A venture of the small cuddly variety.”
Bette smiled and nodded, “Yes! That!” Then shaking her head she continued, “Helena is not ready. Frankly, I don’t think we are ready. I guess I would really like to have her to myself for a while longer. But when she is ready, I’ll be all for it.
Peggy said with concern, “You know the window of opportunity for her is getting smaller and smaller.”
Not wanting to succumb to pressure Bette responded, “We can always adopt. We have that in common already.”
“I hate to give a lot of pressure but my window of opportunity is getting smaller to see a grandchild of my flesh and blood.”
Bette looked at Peggy astonished at her remark, “What are you saying? Are you sick?”
“No but I am beginning to appreciate that I will not be here forever. You just never know Bette. I don’t take my time for granted."
Bette stared at Peggy wondering if she was hiding something in her desire to retire and to leave physical reminders of herself in buildings and grandchildren.
Holding a hand out to Bette, Peggy tried to reassure her that she was fine. “Bette dear, don’t read too much into my wish. I just want to be able to enjoy my grandchild while I can.”
Searching Peggy’s eyes, Bette further questioned, “Are you sure you are okay? I just have this feeling…”
Patting Bette on the arm Peggy continued to reassure. “I am fine. Please don’t worry and certainly do not let get Helena worried. She’ll have enough on her mind getting her new organization up and running.”
Smiling proudly at seeing Helena’s excitement, Bette beamed, “She is so cute talking about it. You can see the wheels turning as she contemplates what she needs to do.”
“She is indeed excited. I’m sure she will be exploring all sorts of options. I know she is planning a trip to Africa. She mentioned some one named Pam who is giving her ideas that she want to develop further. Do you know her?”
Bette moaned and gritted her teeth, “Yes, She is a woman from South Africa who is devoted to AIDS related programs there. Helena has struck up a friendship with her. Actually I think she has a crush on Helena but Helena does not see it.”

Squirl so happy that you have a new chapter up and loved it,,,I feel that Peggy is notn good health and that is why she spoke to Bette in that matter, but I so love these two women together…..great chapter loved it!!
ya know, i’m just sitting here, reading what i thought to be a lovely story and then i get to the, let’s call it the “airplane scene”. i got enough problems when i write my own story! now i cannot be held responsible for what i do to *any* item of furniture im my room. matter of fact, me and the recliner have a date tonight! you better post soon or god knows what i’ll do to the shoe rack!
“Good chappie…Oh God yes…good chappie!” I hate where you ended it though. Leaving us all anticipating some mile high action… From the sounds of the crew, Helena has a bit of a reputation in earning mile high travel club points…hmmm…leave it to a Peabody. I’m sorry to see this story come to a conclusion, Squirl. You know how much I’ve loved it. I’m looking for the rest of the chappie, soon…as in SOON. :>)
Squirl is BACK!!! Hip, hip hooray. Helena gets some major playa points for that quick answer to Bette’s question about mile high points. But now it’s time for Bette to become a bonafide member of the club….so come on squirl don’t stop there. Where is part B (LOL)? I’m so glad you’re back and though i know this story couldn’t go on forever I’m sad to see it go :( But it was so sweet seeing Bette and Peggy having that final chat. I hope Peggy is being honest and she isn’t ill, but just wants another grandchild. That is something she and Bette can work on Helena about. I’m still hesitant about the whole Pam and Helena “frienship” situation, but if Bette follows Peggy’s advice I’m sure their relationship will remain in good shape for years to come. PPS!
Now it says FINALE doesn’t it??? So thank u for the shout out and acknowledgment of my agony & angst over this story. As u well know this is NOT where/how I would leave the 2 couples but….maybe u could rethink the ending ???? I enjoyed your storytelling skills anyway so hope u’ll be back sometime. Yeah I felt for Peggy and her wanting to have a grandchild, maybe u could fix that???
Actually…I disagree with Peggy & a comment below basically saying Bette needs to keep a leash on Helena. Too much time together can ruin a relationship because it becomes cloying, claustrophobic and controlling. It seems to me that if u don’t trust your partner out of your sight then something is not right in the relationship?! That has been my experience. And no matter how much u r together doesn’t fix it. So maybe u r gonna come back with a Part 2 because not just for my own reasons but because of things said in this chapter…it doesn’t seem like the story is over.
OK my 3rd comment lol at me!!! so that was Finale Part A…oh well…bring on Finale Part B & C & D etc…..
Rau-you see that is why you crack me up… I think in a chapter of two ago I said I will be launching another story after a break. I’ve got many issues up the air so will be back with different named story but basically sequel to this. Yes there is a chapter B to come. C&D not likely
so it’s the final? for real? hmm… well, then you’ll have enough time on your hands to write a sequal (i’d love to read a storie in wich helena and bette have a child together and i’m sure peggy’d agree with me). thank you so much for “how could you forget us”!!” it has been a wonderful journey.

Squirl, how could you possibly have only a few chappies left to this finale? There is still soooooo much left to say! * hint hint * Hee Hee. I do wonder if there was more to what Peggy told Bette “leave no room.” Why am I thinking there is something more to that???? Come on now…chop chop, MORE!
Hey Squirl, I was very excited to see a new chapter up from this incredible story! I’m sad too that this story is coming to an end… But as long as you promise to start with a new Belena one it’s fine with me and I, and many others, will be happy :-) so, PPS!!
I am really sad to see this story coming to an end but i’mhappy that you will write another sequel.. I loved this chapter but I feel sorry for Peggy =(
It’s about time, woman! lol I keep saying this story is not over, so I anticipate that your sequel will continue this tale under a different title! I, too, think Peggy is ill but hope she’s not leaving us any time soon. I am still also concerned that there is a lot Bette still has to work through once they get back to L.A. with all the distractions there. I hope they continue to have hot sex but not as a substitute for verbal communication. You’ve probably got a bunch of drama ahead for us! PPVS!
glad to see this story is back. so now bette and helena are heading back to LA. pam and helena will be working together… hmmmmwell what ever happens i do hope all parties are happy regardless of who they end up with….PPS :)

How can you consider nearing the end with this story when there is still so much left to say ?!… I, for one, really want to know what’s going to happen once Bette and Helena get back to LA and they have to deal with Tina, Pam, etc.And I also wonder how Tina is going to cope with BeLena since Bette and Tina are bound to remain in each other’s lives, if only for Angelica’sake. I must also say I’m a bit concerned about Peggy. I have a feeling she might be withholding some important information about her health from Bette and Helena. Anyway, what I really wanted to say is that I too really missed this story and am very glad you’re back. Thank you !

Oh Squirl, the chapter was awesome as usual, but I am left feeling sad knowing that it is coming to an end. I have a sad puppy dog look right now. Okay I am better now. Totally loved the update…after this one, please give us another BeLena fix. PLEASE!!!!!!

Hey squirl glad to see you back, I really missed this story. I hope the girls can make it together and I hope Bette quits her job at the University and gets involved with Helena’s project so she will be close to her and can keep an eye on mischievous Pam.
Hello Squirl, I will be back with some more but the one thing that I would like to add right now is that I don’t think it is just Bette who has a lot of issues to work out… I think they both do and if they work them out together they will be fine… but if Helena continues the way she has she will be one of the leading causes for any tension… she hasn’t taken any responsibility herself for how their relationship has progressed and I think that she is the major force to leading this relationship into the “physical” without “emotional” kind of love they both fear as she has at many turns put a stop to the “emotional” side of Bette in order to receive the “physical” side of Bette, the big date that Bette planned was so evident of this very point… I think that Helena needs to take a step back and see if she can be in this on an “emotional” level if there wasn’t any “physical” at all… because if her job does require her to travel a lot and it puts her into close proximity to say… Pam… then I think her own tendencies to cheat might become very evident… I still think that she has to take some responsibility for Bette’s wandering lust in this story only because she cut Bette off… left her in a highly aroused state and ignored the call signs… she can’t be naïve enough not to realize after all they have been through within their re-bonding that if she had just stepped up and taken her responsibility for Bette’s unfortunate situation then Bette might never have been tempted in the first place… I think that act was Helena’s heightened sense of flight as opposed to fight… and if anything does indeed happen to Peggy you can rest assured that Helena will not be strong enough to avoid “flight” at any cost… she has to just realize that if she does run away again… Bette might not be there to catch her… and this act alone with Break Bette beyond anything… I will be back… so love how you make my brain works it out… hehe… JC
I guess we’re almost at the end of an fantastic ride and it was pleasure to be on board. To me this was the ultimate tale of girl gets girl, girl loses girl and girl gets girl back.(Try saying that 3 times.) Even though it sadden me that this must come to an end I really am looking forward to the journey these two will make as a couple. Great update!
