How powerful is love? chpt. 1
California Family Court
Bette enters the court resentlessly. Upon entering, she’s checked by security at the front desk. As she emptied her belongings into the tray, she happened to glance up, and see Tina being escorted upstairs to the court room. She quickly retrieved her things and proceeded to catch up to them.
"I hope the judge grants you custody. Bette’s a lost cause. After today, she’s no longer in our lives." Henry pulls Tina closer.
The sound of his piercing words stabbed Bette’s heart. She found it hard to breath and couldn’t continue following them any longer. She collapses against a door, and was swept backwards into the wall. It was a bathroom door. Not a signifciant source to collapse against.
Bette frowned at her reflection in the mirror. She felt like a coward who was weak and torn. Without a way of being reshaped to battle the sins she created, that somehow came back to bite her in the ass. The bite hurt and it was no longer easy to deal with. She felt over powered by something she’d never seen coming in a millions years.
She digs up enough energy to walk over to the sink. Seeing the bags under her eyes, and the wrinkles on her face, made her worry. She hasn’t exercised for over a year, and has been eating take out, and resenting to sleep. She’s been fighting with herself at night to close her eyes and rest. Kit worried most about her. She was afraid she’d pass out and no one be there to know.
She reached for the metal facet, and turns the water on. The metal felt cool against her finger tips. The AC pushed out crisp cool air. The summer heat roasted outside. As she was washing her hands, Joyce Wishnia entered the bathroom. When she saw Bette she smirked. Her backs frees the door she was holding and she approaches the brunette.
"I wasn’t expecting to see you here."
"Fuck you." Bette cuts the water off and walks over to the paper despenser. She pulls down on the paper and takes off two sheets.
"Wow! I see you haven’t changed one bit."
Bette tosses the paper into the trash and approaches the door. Joyce chuckles and shakes her head. She cuts the water on, and breaks contact from the brunette. Bette’s nose flares and her face steams with heat. She turns and faces Joyce. Her back was to her. Joyce locks eyes with the brunette. She cuts the water off and faces her.
