Alice walked into her booth and took a seat in her chair. She sighed softly as she dropped her bag on the floor. She pulled herself closer to the board and grabbed her headphones. The producer walked into the room, and Alice turned around.
“You’re back early.” Alice sighed and put on a fake smile.
“Yeah, the vacation didn’t go so well, but I’m back!” The producer crossed her arms and looked at Alice.
“I hope to have a great show today Pieszecki and lets not be a drag okay.” She smiled and walked out of the room. Alice rolled her eyes and put the headphones. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She had to say something that was hitting in heart, and she knew that the time was now.

“Good morning, this is Alice Pieszecki and you’re listening to The Chart on KCRW. Well my vacation came to a short end, and to top it all off: my best friend Dana died as you guys heard. It was very long and sad day for me and my friends.” Alice swallowed and took a deep breath. “Before I began my day with Dana, I want to talk about my vacation. Everything went completely wrong. Shane jilted Carmen at the altar and had everything in an uproar. Bette ran off in the night with her child and had Tina in tears. Helena gave Shane’s father ten thousand dollars, and he disappeared. Her mother cut her off financially, and it was shocker to her and all of us. Jenny and Moira—Max, whatever you want to call him or her, they’re on a brink of an end of their relationship. Now you’re wondering, where do I come in. I had a little life journey, and I hope to tell this special person in my life how I feel about her.” Alice sighed heavily and looked up at the producer with a concern look on her face. Alice smiled faintly and continued.
“I know you guys are probably sick of hearing about her, but this is my chance to tell you my feelings. I want you guys to know what I’m going through.” Alice raked her finger through her hair and sighed. “I was with Dana in her last few days, and I was happy. Even though I knew she was dying, I was by her side and did everything for her. I know she’s in a better place, and I know she’s waiting for me to join her. I hate to sound selfish, but it’s just not my time.” Alice wiped the tear from her cheek and continued. “Anyways, I want you to take a moment out of your lives and just have a minute of silence for Miss Dana Fairbanks.” Alice leaned back in her chair and dropped her head. The producer watched from the control booth with a sad look on her face. Alice sniffed and looked back up.

this is awesome, so well written and true to character. Will there be more? ‘Lace’ forever. It just makes so much sense that the Alice/Lara/Dana bond continues. Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed reading this piece;)
