I Want to Come Over, Post 23
Bette could not leave things the way they were. Tina’s displeasure was evident when Bette announced that she had to see Rosanna briefly and asked Tina to stay with Angie. When Bette arrived at Rosanna’s home she found her sitting quietly in the garden staring off into space.
“Ro? Can we talk?”
“I thought we already did.”
Bette reached down and placed her hand under Ro’s chin forcing her to meet her eyes. The pain she saw there caused her to gasp and drop to her knees in front of her. It hit her hard the amount of pain this situation was causing.
“I am so sorry baby. I never meant to hurt you.” Bette said with sincerity.
“I know you didn’t honey. I am a big girl. I knew walking into this relationship that you belonged to another. As much as it hurts I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.” She tenderly caressed her cheek and brushed a stray lock of hair out of Bette’s eyes tucking it behind her ears.” “You have no idea how much I want to fight for you, for us.” Blue eyes met ebony reflecting the love, desire and conflict. “Just know that all you have to do is say the word and it’s on.” The intensity and sincerity of her statement could not be mistaken. “I gave you my word that I would cherish whatever time we had and I do.”
“Ro you mean so much to me I can hardly believe it. I have to talk things out with Tina once and for all. If at the end of it all we come to the conclusion that its over other than as parents so be it. I can only hope and pray that you will give me another chance. With the way women are throwing themselves at you I am the biggest fool to leave them an opening. If you should change your mind about Theresa or Kay I will understand even if it means that I have to throw my hat in the ring to vie for your attention.” Bette smiled weakly. She was unreasonably possessive of Rosanna and Tina. She had no right to be jealous and yet the thought of Rosanna with another was like a knife cutting through her. She knew that she would feel that way even if she chose to start over with Tina. There was preciousness to her love with Rosanna that defied her reason. She knew that Tina was her soul mate but Rosanna now owned a piece of her heart.
“Thank you for coming. I really needed to see you one last time.”
“I really needed to see you too.”
“If in the twilight of memory we should meet once more,
We shall speak again together and you shall sing to me
A deeper song.”
Bette felt the words in a place she could not name. “Where is that quote from?”
“Kahlil Gilbran The Prophet”
“A deeper song.” Bette answered in the manner of a promise.
They kissed then with tenderness and love each very aware it could be their last and knowing what they were giving up.
“May I have a dance before you go?”
“Please.”
Rosanna took her by the hand and led her to the living room. She loaded the CD player and dimmed the lights. The pleading tones of Marvin filled the air. It was the song that was running through her mind all night and now they filled their ears. Their bodies molded together as they swayed to the music.
Baby, Baby, Baby
Baby please don’t go
Don’t you know I still love you so
Honey, Honey, Honey
Honey you know
I still care
And I still got lots of
Love to share
Ah, you for me, me for you
Ah baby we’ll be going through
Love so deeply
‘Til tomorrow
You have stolen my mind completely
Have a heart hey, hey, hey, hey
Hold me sweetly, now
‘Til tomorrow
Baby, Baby
Baby please girl don’t go, oooh
Don’t you know I still love you so
Honey, if you leave me
I’ll go crazy
I’ll still care
Oh you know I’ll still care for you
‘Til tomorrow comes girl
I love you
Oh Baby
Baby, Baby, yeah Baby
Oh, if you have to go
I won’t say no more
I’ll just shed a tear
When you’re gone
And wish you were here
Marvin Gaye – Til Tomorrow
Rosanna walked her to the door and placed a finger on her lips to keep her from saying anything more. Bette slowly walked to her car and looked up once before starting the engine to find Rosanna gone.

This sucks!! The story is great, but I feel Bette’s pain loving two women. No matter what, someone is going to get hurt and it may be Bette when she has to give up Ro and her “soulmate” fails to deliver. It’s pretty clear that Ro knows what she wants, and it not Theresa or Kay. I hope Bette and Tina can figure out their end of this mess.
i love Ro!
awe man the anguish…it’s heart wrenching….give her the happiness she deserves..PLEASE!!!!
I really feel for both Bette and Ro… however, i just cannot make myself feel for Tina. She had her chance. Love the story and so can’t wait for the next chapter.
I think what strikes me especially after this chapter is that Bette has to see Tina again…for whatever outcome. To me that says a whole lot more about Robette together as well as Tibette together. It’s proper and right that Ro needs to let Bette go, if she is pulled like this then it would be bound to happen and then the pain would be much worse..and it’s pretty bad right now. Thanks for the post..
You heart can do funny thing to your life. To love two people at the same time, but are you in love with both or just in love with one and love the other. The in love will win. I just dont know which it is. thanks
i feel for all 3 ladies, and yes someone does get hurt unfortually.okay no shout outs= LONGER POST?wink.. great story kel.
okay so was that the end???? I’ve been in this situation…sometimes the head and the heart need to work together rather than just running on the ’emotions’ which imo is where Bette has been for some time…as I see it both Bette and Rosanna came 2gether as rebounds and yes, they may well ‘love’ one another and the sex is good BUT a ‘soulmate’ is a meant to be…and I suspect that Kay is Rosanna’s and Tina is Bette’s…as for Theresa???? I don’t think she fits with Rosanna…lol…you did ask…more soon pleasz
It ain’t over til the hot brunette sings! 8) pps!
The Gibran quote was lovely, and apt for these two. Poor Ro. Well, on to the next phase, I suppose. Thanks for the chapter, kelika.
Having invested 8 years in a relationship, it is definitely worth salvaging if there is even a remote chance of reconciliation. If a child in the formula, the needs of many tend to outweigh the needs of one. Having said that, I think Bette needs to get her priorities sorted out (agree with Rau that sometimes the head and the heart need to work together rather than just running on the ’emotions’…). She seems to be giving false hope to both Tina and Rosanna when she knows one of them will be devastated. Perhaps Rosanna could have considered this perspective…if she had not been in the picture, did she think Bette would eventually get back together with Tina? Thanks for the post and personal responses.
I am a little tired of Bette and Ro at the moment. Can’t they bloody hell make up their minds? If I was Tina I would be pissed too, but the poor woman has no pride left so she has to take it.
Loved the update, even though it was sad. But with the sad comes the good. BTW, Kahill Gibran is amazing. My mother used to read him to me as a child and even named my sister after him. Thanks again, pps.
Damn this is sad and hard for B&R. Let just hope B&T will figure out what they really want and work thing out and not let anyone here in more pain that they already did. OK post soon please, thanks!
I feel bad for Rosanna, but I feel bad for all of them. That’s the thing about life and love. It’s constantly throwing us curve balls. We duck, miss, and strike out sometimes, but every once in a while we get it just right. Tina and Bette are soulmates, and you can love someone else, but the person who holds your heart and soul is your destiny.
