If You Never Say Anything to Me ch.20

We hammered out the details. I may not have every had my works shown before but I had read enough to know the basics of what to ask for. We tentatively came to an agreement. I hadn’t asked for anything outrageous and the percentage that we would share was fair. Once my attorney looked at the contract, we would be partnered for the October show. To say that I was excited was an understatement.

When I got back to my hotel, I stopped by the desk and had the contract faxed to my attorney. I then went to my room and called Kit to tell her what was happening. She was so pleased for me. She promised once I gave her the date, she would clear her schedule so she could attend the opening. She asked if I was going to tell Daddy and I was uncertain as to whether I wanted to tell him. He would not be supportive. He would not understand. It didn’t matter though what his opinion was. I wasn’t doing it or not doing it to please him. After Kit and I talked for a few more minutes we said goodbye and I sat there. Before I talked myself out of it, I called Daddy.

He answered after a few rings.

    “Hello.”

“Hi Dad. It’s Bette. How are you?”

“Hello Elizabeth. I’m well. You?” Everyone else on the face of the earth called me Bette. Why couldn’t he too? I’ve asked enough times that he should be able to remember.

“I’m good. Just thought since we hadn’t spoken recently that I would call you.”

“Have you returned to work yet?”

“No. I’m still not cleared to go back yet. I wanted to talk to you about that.”

    “What is it?”

“I’m seriously considering not going back to work. I’m not sure if my head and heart are into it any longer.”

“And what would you do if you didn’t go back?”

“I’ve been painting and I’ve been offered a slot in an October show.”

“Painting? I didn’t realize you still delved in such trivial things.”

“It’s not trivial to me Dad. I enjoy doing it and I would like to see if I have the possibility of making money doing it.”

    1. Well, howdoyoulikethat? Tina asked Bette out! Heehee! Love the honesty and straightforwardness. And, boyohboy, do you write fast! Guess you just had a teeny nap last night! :) Date chapter please!

    2. LOL! I had to laugh as the fireworks crack and whistle in my neighborhood… totally identify with being too lazy to care! Love the story!!! PPS!!! SK/C

    3. NAG…you’ve done it again. Super update. At least in this story, Bette gets a family who loves her. That was good that Tina decided to tell Bette who she supped with…but technically she didin’t really owe Bette an explanation at this point in their relationship. Dying for the next chapter, as usual.

    4. I am an extremely happy camper due to reading the last two chapters. I love how Bette and Tina are taking things slowly. The fireworks were wild here. The entire beach was lit up for at least 2 hours. I was surprised because the cops let it go when fireworks are banned. But it was a spectular show.

    5. wooooohooooo can’t wait for the date!!!Its good how they have started their relationship honest and straightforward with other.Bette now knows that Eric is in Tina’s life as a friend so she hasn’t really got to worry about why he is there. 5 hours on the phone that mut be one expensive phone bill lol. PPS thanks

    6. Go Tina Go! I am so glad she asked Bette for the date. I think it means she is ready to explore her feelings for women and particularly Bette. I am waiting on the edge of my seat for the evening she has planned! I hope it includes more hand holding and a kiss or two as well… :>)

    7. Finally, now Bette neds to invite Tina to the show. They seem like a great match. Hope to read more soon I for one am following both of your stories so would be happy to see a chapter of WOO soon also.

    8. Everyone needs a loving man in their life Bette has Bob also his wife Mary. Melvin is a big a&&. So glad Bette called Tina and Tima returned her call. So dinner the next night. thanks so much for posting.

    9. Love this story and love both of your stories as you well know. Glad this chapter turned out as it did, in that Tina was honest about dinner with Eric and Bette receptive of the friendship. I thought she needed to tell her in person rather than the telephone. Obviously your B and T are so very different than some we’ve seen before. Happy they are going out on that date. And I will be so happy when we can read about it. They are so lovely together. melvin in this story is more of an a–hole than original and Bob is the dream stepfather for her. Good and loving man, just the kind of father she needs in her life. Can we please have the date chapter tomorrow, pretty please? lol PPS

    10. Just caught up – two great chapters – I really like the detail of what is important to each of them and how they handle their feelings. Appreciate your writing very much.
