Epilogue
A Reason
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
~ Aleksandra Lachut
“I have already met you before when you were still with Helena. I had an opening and I could not resist.” Bette told Tina while they were lounging by the lake watching the sunset with Tina sitting in between Bette’s legs.
“Hmmm? What do you mean?” Tina asked absentmindedly.
“It was your birthday party. I met Helena earlier that day and we engaged in a bit of small talk. I knew who she was back then since I already saw her after I went for your book when you asked me to. She then invited me to your party saying that she was planning a surprise party for you and you might hate it but she cannot resist.”
Bette took Tina’s hand before continuing with her story.
“I went with the surprise and all. I can tell by the look on your face that you were not impressed at all. I was following your every move the whole night. I saw you go through the back door and waited for you to come back. When it was apparent that you had no plans of coming back anytime soon I followed you. I saw you sitting by the back yard…”
“That was you! Yes, that was you!” Tina said in recognition of that night.
“Yes. I made small talk and used my knowledge of you to take advantage.”
“Now I remember. How the hell can I forget that?!? And yes, you did take advantage of me.”
“I recall you enjoyed the kiss very much so. That was until Helena caught us. You were very unapologetic. You apologized but were unapologetic. Does that make sense?”
“Yes and yes. It makes sense and yes I was indeed unapologetic. Does that make me a bad person?”
“You’re my angel so I am not the right person to answer that question.”
“Nice save. We broke up shortly after that. It was inevitable. She was getting in my nerves at every turn and some of it was not even her fault. I was just always pissed off. I did treat her badly.” Tina said in a sad voice.
“You were in a bad place back then, babe. You made it up to her the second time you were with her.”
“Yes and we had a total role reversal. She never forgave me for that kiss you know. She brought it up even after all those years.”
“Did you tell her that I was a great kisser? Because that will not go down well, Tee.”
“Oh shut up. You are so full of yourself.”
Both chuckled.
“I am not sorry I kissed you.” Bette confessed.
“Me either. In an odd way it was the final push that our relationship needs to make me wake up and realize that it was not working between the two of us that time.”
“And you went back there. You are hard headed aren’t you?” Bette teased.
“You stood me up.”
“I did not. I was in an accident. Do I really have to defend myself again?”
“You are adorable in a weird way.”
“And you love me just the same.”
“That I do.”
They settled onto the comfort of being in each other’s presence. Bette was in Tina’s life for a reason but went away. It was as if one of life’s miracles was at hard work in bringing the two closer together because even though they have briefly met and parted ways destiny brought them back together.
