    Chapter 41

     

    The little family is walking through the door at home, after a day of shopping. Tina takes Angelica in to her room and changes her clothes and lay her down for a afternoon nap.

    Bette came after and brought the new clothes. She took them out of the bags.

    I really like this track suit. Bette says and smiles.

    Yeah, I know that babe. Tina says and cant help but laugh.

    Then the phone rings.

    Ill get it. Bette says and walks into the living room.

    Bette Porter speaking. Bette says.

    Hi, Bette, its Dr. Taylor. He replies.

    Hi, so whats up? Bette asks.

    Im calling to tell you that I have scheduled you for the operation on Wednesday at one in the afternoon. You have to be fasting that day, only drink water. Dr. Taylor says.

    Okay, and you are sure that this was benign? Not gonna wake up Wednesday night to bad news? Bette asks a last time.

    No, Bette Im sure. And its an easy operation, very low risk. So you dont have to worry. Dr. Taylor says to calm Bette down, ease some of her fears.

    Okay, thanks Doc. Ill se you on Wednesday. Bette sys and hangs up.

    She places the phone down but doesnt let go of it just yet. Tina has been standing round the corner and listening in, she now make her presence known.

    Babe, you okay? She says and put her arm on Bettes shoulder.

    Yeah, that was Dr. Taylor, hes scheduled the operation to Wednesday at one. Bette says and looks at Tina. Tina sees the fear in Bettes eyes.

    Babe, youll be fine. Tina says, trying to comfort Bette.

    I know baby, but its still a little scary. I know its benign, but still I feel like theres something more. I cant explain it. Id put those feelings aside, but talking to Dr. Taylor now, it brought them back. Bette says getting a little sad. Tina looks at Bette and moves her hand up to Bettes face, and softly strokes her cheek.

    Babe, theres nothing more, Im sure of it, this is the last time were going to that hospital in a very long time. You are going to be fine, and youll be free of that thing forever. You hear me? Tina says and looks straight into Bettes eyes. She leans in for a kiss. Bette removes a single tear that has found its way down Tinas chin.
