In The Aftermath of Betrayal
IN THE AFTERMATH OF BETRAYAL
Chapter One.
Their movements seem to slow to a glacial pace in her eyes and a thick, sharp pain shot through her heart. Jenny stood in silence for a long while and watched with shear hurt as her best friend fucked her ex-girlfriend. Her entire body began to throb and she continued to stand, quiet and useless, until they finally saw her.
“You’ve broken my heart …”
It had been there from the beginning, Shane realized as she watched her walk swiftly away. Their eyes had met only briefly at Bette and Tina’s party, but the spark that was lit between them then was thriving, however blindly, even now. How it had to take breaking Jenny’s heart for Shane to finally open her eyes now was beyond her.
“Jenny!” She called to the fleeting, dark-haired figure and wasn’t even a little surprised to find that the girl continued on, as if the words were never spoken. “I’m sorry.” Shane whispered to the air, her voice masking the defeat she felt.
“Shane.”
Shane stiffened when the now dreaded voice from behind had reminded her that Nikki was and had been standing behind them the entire time, lurking for the lack of a better word.
“What?”
“Maybe this is for the best, right?” Shane turned around to face the hopeful actress, who appeared to be dangerously close to tears herself. “I mean, it has to be better that she knows.” Nikki began to nod as if she was trying to convince even herself. “It wouldn’t have been easy for me to keep this from her. The guilt would have driven me insane.”
Shane scoffed and stared at her with a set of disbelieving blue eyes. “How?” Her anger flared. “Please, Nikki, please tell me how the hell any of this is for the best.” She motioned in the direction of her best friend, who had long since disappeared from their view. “Because she knows?” Shane asked, an angry laugh resounding from her mouth. “That’s bullshit, Nikki, and you know it. We destroyed her tonight. NONE of this is for the best!” She emphasized.
“Look, it was mistake, okay?” Nikki retorted in her defense. “I never wanted to hurt Jenny, Shane. I love her.”

I agree with bvhall, I’m not a Shenny fan, but this is well written and I think it has a lot of potential. Good job, looking fwd to the next chapter.
