    Into The Flames (Final)

    September 11, 2012
    Orange County, California

Everyone was gathered around Bette and Tina’s living room. A picture of Dana was set on the table next to a candle and the entire room was silent.

Alice was leaning against Tasha who was holding 13 year old Amanda who had changed a lot with her sudden puberty. Helena and Dylan were snuggled close together on the loveseat holding their adopted son, Rony, who was asleep on both of their laps.

Carmen, who had just finished breast feeding her 4 month old baby girl, Dana, snuggled beside Shane on the couch. Robbie and James were sitting solemnly beside them, silently vowing to honor her death with their service to the military.

On the loveseat on the other side of the one Dylan, Helena, and Rony were in, sat Bette, Tina, and six year old Danny.

Bette and Tina’s wedding was a smash and Tasha had proposed to Alice at the reception. The couple sat close together with Danny snuggled in between them. Danny’s head was resting on Bette’s breast and Bette’s hand was resting on Tina’s slightly protruding stomach which was nursing their two month old fetus.

Tasha was the first to break the overwhemling silence of the room. "Dana, we will honor and cherish you forever. You died a hero on this day 11 years ago, and you will forever be remembered as a hero."

"Thanks for saving me buddy," Bette said surprising everyone, especially Shane and Tasha. "I never thanked you in all these eleven years for saving my life. I just blamed myself for robbing your family of you and robbing the world of such a wonderful woman. I don’t blame myself anymore because it was what you wanted. You wanted to save me and you did. Thank you Dana Fairbanks. Thank you."

"We will never forget you Dane," Shane added.

"Our daughter will carry your name with pride," Carmen said.

"I will love you forever," Alice said wiping away a stray tear.

"I wish I could remember more about you mommy," Mandy said sniffling back her tears.

Silence filled the room. For a few minutes they all grieved and honored their friend, then they all said their goodbyes silently and left Bette, Tina and Danny.
