Tina got dressed and took off to school. After work Tina went to see her friends, Alice and Helena, at a lesbian bar. They were enjoying drinks and casual talk until Alice brought up her dilemma of not having a photographer at hands for her interview with Bette Porter tomorrow. Alice, a writer for the New York Times has to write an article about Bette and her impact on the political career of her husband.
“You have to help me out TK,” said Alice with her beseeching eyes.
“Alice I don’t know,” said Tina wanting to wait to talk with Bette first. She didn’t know how Bette would take it if she all of a sudden shows up at her house.
“Come on Tina. I am really desperate here and you’re a great photographer plus you get to meet Mrs. Jackson, the mighty fine Bette Porter. Please help me out, pretty please,” Alice pleaded with her sad puppy eyes.
Tina distorted her body in discomfort – Alice’s a great friend but Bette would kill her for this. Bette’s private life with her family was off limit to Tina. Helena sensed the discomfort in Tina, “Al, I can be your photographer for tomorrow,” she said, taking a sip of her drink afterward.
“Oh please Peabody you can’t take a great picture even if your life is depended on it,” snorted Alice.
“Whatever. I was only trying to help,” said Helena sticking her tongue out at Alice.
Alice got up from her seat and went to kneel down in front of Tina. She was desperate if only her photographer didn’t get reassign to another assignment.
“Please TK. The article is nerve-racking already I don’t want to stress out about taking unfit picture…My boss would kill me if everything is not perfect. You know I take crappy picture. And it’s freaking intimidating interview a woman with such power alone. I’ll shit in my pants. If you help me out I’ll do anything you want,” said Alice not relenting from getting Tina to photograph for her.
Tina thought about and bit on her lower lips, nervously, she said, “Fine Al. You own me big time.”
After Tina went home she decided to call Bette and let her about going to her house tomorrow with Alice to interview her – the news was not taken well by Bette.
“What were you thinking Tina? Does your friend know about us?” Bette asked angrily.
“No, I didn’t tell Alice. I told only one person and that’s my best friend, Helena.”
“What the fuck were you thinking Tina? Didn’t I tell you this relationship is only between us and now what? The whole world is going to know about it. You tell your friend to keep her mouth shut. I don’t want the media to get a hold of this. A scandal like this can devastate the campaign,” said Bette, although the two did an open relationship, every affair was discreet.
“I needed someone to talk to. Is that so wrong of me?”
“It’s not but it’s stupid. I’m the one you should talk to,” said Bette feeling a little jealous and angry.
“How am I supposed to talk to you about you?”
“You know what Tina I’m really tired today. This morning you wanted me to leave my husband and now this. You’re not giving me a break at all. I feel like I’m being ambushed by you. You can do whatever you want I don’t care anymore,” said Bette hanging up on Tina.
Tina reposed on the headboard in her warm bed settling in the darkness – she bawled and wept in solitude.

the mighty bette porter is back. i love this story. tina should not call agin and wit for bette’s apology. cant blame Tina wanting to find out her status in Bette’s life. she also needs to think of her future and bette is not giving her any indication if it’s with her. that’s just selfish on bette’s side. The ball is now on bette’s court. thanks pps:)
I don’t blame Bette for wanting her cake and eating it too I blame Tina for letting her. Tina should break it off with Bette as soon as possible and get on with her life because Bette clearly is getting on with hers.
Tina needs to move on. Bette has the best of both worlds. She has a loving family & an open marriage where she’s free to sleep with anyone without guilt. Bette is too far ensconced in her marriage to ever truly consider being with Tina. To make matters worse, Bette’s husband is a politician, lessening the likelihood of Bette ever leaving. I can understand that Bette’s need to be careful in her contact with Tina. No one wants the notoriety of being “the cheater” in a political marriage. The media & the public will eat you alive. However, Bette had no right to speak to Tina that way. Bette needs to put herself in Tina’s shoes & she’ll better understand how Tina feels. Unfortunately I believe Tina will still be waiting, many years & elections later, for Bette to make a decision. Bette is comfortable. She already has her husband, whom she confesses she’s in love with, & her two kids. Tina is merely a dalliance that Bette will soon tire of if Tina continues to press her to make a decision between her husband & Tina. If Tina wants a real & true relationship, she has to see for herself that she deserves better, or she will remain the hurting mistress waiting for Bette to finally come around. This Bette seems like just the type of person that has an epiphany and suddenly wants you but only when they see that you’ve found someone that makes you happy. Thanks for your compelling story.

OMG Tina does need to move on kimz. My heart is breaking for her. I can understand Bette’s position but I don’t like it. Great post, thank you kimz.
This Bette is a stinker of the first water. She is also a user and selfish to boot. She is just using Tina for her own desires, if she wanted and loved Tina so much she wouldn’t talk to Tina in that manner. Tina should take the damned pictures anyway and to hell with what Bette wants. People in hell want ice water too, don’t they. Tina, no matter how much it breaks her heart, should just walk away from Bette because Bette will not leave her husband. Anyway, he might just have someone he wants more than Bette and he might just leave her, then where will she be. She will have lost everything and Tina. They both have a lot to think about. I feel sorry for them both. Great update. Thanks for posting.

This isn’t a good situation for Tina, but it’s not Bette’s fault. Tina knew Bette was maaried and pusued her anyway. Given bette’s open marriage and past relationships she’s used to handling the secret rendevous, but it’s all knew for Tina. Ultimately Tina will ahve to decide if being w/ Bette in secret is better than not being w/ Bette at all (I think it is. It is Bette Porter after all). PPS!

Oh man! That was exactly what I was draining. It will hurt at some point. I can understand Bette, change is frightening. She also has a statu in politic. She needs to think of her children, what the change will bring. She might be able to take it but not her children and her family. Scary really. But she can do it.
