It Takes A Village: 1980’s Night at the Planet: Part 1

    Los Angeles, California

California University- College of Art and Design Building

    8 AM

Megan walked through the doors of the building, Bette beside her. They had similar body builds, slender and tall, with Bette being a few inches taller than her younger sister. The building was full of three things: art, art-type young people, and girls staring at her and her sister. She wrapped her arm around Bette’s, locking arms.

    "These girls are ogling us."

    "Probably just you."

"Maybe some of them, but most of them are looking at you. You seem popular."

"And I’m professional about it." Bette said with a grin. She wasn’t always professional because, of course, there was Nadia.

    "I don’t think you’re that innocent."

"I’m not." They walked towards Bette’s office, "Good morning, James."

    "Morning, Bette."

"This is my sister, Megan. Its a long story." James stuck out his hand to shake hers.

    "Nice to meet you."

"The pleasure is all mine." Bette smiled, shockingly, at Megan. The Porter charm must not have been just a myth because her it was right in front of her. They went into Bette’s office and closed the door behind them, "He’s cute, Bette."

    "He’s gay."

"Thats a shame." She took a seat on Bette’s desk, "I could’ve shown him a good time."

"Jesus, are you always so brash?"

"Only around people I trust." Bette smiled and so did Megan.

"So, what do you want to go to college for? What are your dreams?"

"Don’t laugh at me or say I’m being ridiculous, but dance. Dancing is what I do."

    "Like theatrical? Interpretive?"

"Everything. Everything. You don’t think I’m being silly?"

    "No, dance is like art…"

"In motion, right?" Bette nodded, "I said that same thing to my mom, but she didn’t believe me."

"I’ll take you to the the Theatre department. They’ll probably have someone for you to talk to about it. Speaking of your mother, does she know you’re here?"

"Yeah, and she probably wants me to come back, but I’m not."

"When did you say you’d be eighteen?"

    "In a month."

"Well, I guess it can be arranged for you to stay. Um…we’re dressing up tonight…like somebody from the ’80s. You should call Kit, ask her to take you shopping."
