One foot in front of the other, Sam instructed her disoriented feet as she stumbled like a drunk outside the penthouse, her body torn between states of wakefulness and sleepiness. She passed by a mirror, did a double take and actually recoiled at her reflection; cringing at the mortifying ugliness that she saw there. Her tired bloodshot eyes were wonky, hints of dried drool were on the sides of her lips, her skin was deathly pale and it was as if her thick brown hair lost a fight with a flatiron and a teasing comb – it was flat in some places and absolutely fluffed out in others. With a tiresome sigh, she ran her fingers through her disheveled mane and tried to comb out the kinks and straighten the knots – which unfortunately, did nothing but worsen the tangles. Giving up after one round of quiet cursing, she expelled a huge sum of breath and resumed walking through the carpeted hallway towards the elevators. She didn’t bother to count how many yawns left her lips during the short journey there, knowing it would be pointless to do so. Her movements were still sluggish, her mind was still in a haze. The sound of a string orchestra playing one of Mozart’s classics coming from the elevator’s speakers did nothing to rouse and stimulate her half-snoozing brain. She still felt like she was in some sort of dream – a surreal dream; one of those that felt so real she could feel the slight jolting of the descending elevator shaft and almost taste her morning breath. Oh wait, Sam made a face and gagged. Damn, she should have brushed her teeth. 27.. 26.. 25.. The number on the small screen went down, the bright red figures hypnotizing her a bit that she was pretty sure she fell asleep on the way down to the lobby from the 30th floor. But whatever seconds of rest she got from the short ride was interrupted when she felt the shaft slow down and stop at her intended destination. Ding! The chime sounded before the doors opened, revealing the plush lobby of Helena’s Manhattan home. Sam stepped out of the mechanical box, strode past the front desk and gave the concierge behind it a small nod – paying no attention to the curious expression on the older woman’s face. Still a little sleepy, she rubbed her eyes and released another yawn instead of returning the doorman’s polite smile as he held the heavy doors open for her. “Holy shit!” Sam cried out not a second later, her mind rattled to full consciousness by the frigid New York breeze that blew through her body when she stepped foot out of the apartment building.

Applause on the 67 pages Alchemy! And so the famous throwing of the necklace in the pond came into view, wonder who will be doing the heartbreaking water hunting to get it back. You’re always worth the wait, thanks for the post.

I have to say, with work, it took me all morning to read this. But, thank you so much for the long chapters! I wish Bette and Tina would make up already!!! Not worried about the necklace…James was probably watching them. PPS
bloody hell Alch!! that was a doozy! i think while reading that chapter i experienced every human emotion, by the end though i swear i could feel bettes pain – all credit to your writing! Though i absolutely love drama i soooooooooo want them to just kiss/have lots of make up sex/get back together and have babies! pps

I thought half way through that they had a chance, now I am not so sure. Not sure how and who will take the next step. Maybe send someone to go diving after the necklace. I am heart broken.

Wow I just got back from my 3 week vacation and come back to 5 chapters of reading! I couldn’t stop and read all the chapters today! I gotta say you’re breaking my heart here, please fix our girls and their hearts and fast!! Can’t wait for the next chappie:0

Either Tina’s donning scuba gear and looking for that pendant, or when a more sober Porter realizes what she’s done, she’s having that pond drained. At least I *hope* so. Alchemy, you’re breaking my heart, but that’s not going to stop me from wanting another 60 odd pages. Brilliant chapter, I love this story! Thanks :)

Wow, amazing Alch. Before I started reading, I went out for supplies and made sure I was good to go because I did not want to stop reading. I unplugged the phone and turned off my cell even. AWESOME! Love child of MC hammer and Lady Gaga, LOL, good stuff. I’ve always felt that way about heart spotted clothes, like they were to be cupid’s target practice range LOL. Thanks for the post. It’s okay if you post a that many at a time, I’ll quit my job to make the time to read them. BTW, you didn’t crash the website server by posting this many at one time? I had every intention of reading the chapter in a couple of sittings, but somehow never found a place to stop! Fantastic, Alchemy! At the end, I imagined Tina making a swan dive into that pond and Bette’s security detail pulling her out with necklace in hand. Love the way you offset the sadness with so many hilarious images and situations.
It took me awhile to get through this one,but it was awesome.I can’t remember last time when I laughed so hard reading a fanfic,Bette in the beginning ‘torturing’ all the F4’s members – it was priceless.Then I have to say that I’m a huge Tina fan,and there’s no fanfic in which I liked Bette more than Tina,until I read this one.Your Bette is really good,even if she’s a bitch sometimes,a smart ass or whatever,shes’ exceptionally well written,I love her lol.But this chapter I don’t know,I would go against the flow and I would say that I don’t want TiBette together anymore(don’t hit me!).The last part made me hate Tina a little,I don’t know it doesn’t sound right but that’s it.This vulnerable Bette is too damn cute to resist,and now I really want Jill to be interested in Bette(oh my,what I ask for?),so this way Bette will get a little bit of loving,granted that she’s a ‘heartless drunken bitch’ but she didn’t deserve Tina to give her back the necklace,what she’s supposed to do now?Anyway if you get them back(okay more like when) someone should go ‘fishing’ for that pendant,and I hope that someone wouldn’t be Bette.Waiting (not so) patiently for the next update.Thanks.
Simply a-ma-zing…bril-liant…awe-some! BRAVA, Alchemy! I read and re-read it for almost two hours at the other site. (It’s easier to read long chapters and huge chunks of paragraphs there.) Truly worth every minute of my time. An excellent, entertaining read from start to finish. I only watched bits and pieces of the taiwanese version and on the korean version it was there but not in this context.. i cannot wait how u would incorporate the maid part.. such a great and entertaining story.. one of the best.. pls post again soon.. ur avid fan..:)
