Just The Girl – Chapter Seven (a HYD-inspired fic)
"Thanks for accepting my invitation for lunch Helena." Bette said as she stepped out from her bedroom wearing black drawstring pants and a white tanktop. It seemed like a simple, casual outfit.. but the brand name displayed on the tags said otherwise. Her servant closed the doors behind her and bowed down once more as she excused herself and left the room.
"It was my pleasure." Helena greeted Bette with a friendly kiss on the cheek.
Bette smiled as she led the way towards the patio. "Lunch is served over here." She said as she pushed open the french doors and stepped outside. The place had a nice view of the Porter estate. You could see the fountain towards the left, a small putting green at the center, and a garden overflowing with flowers at the far right.
"Wow." Helena said as she examined the spread on top of the marble dining table. "So will the others be joining us?" She said as she sat down directly facing Bette.
"Nope." Bette answered. "Just you and me."
"Really now?" Helena raised an eyebrow. "Hmm." She said as she eyed Bette seriously.
"What?" Bette asked as she signaled one of the food servers to start putting wine in their glasses.
"You need something from me." Helena stated as she pointed a well manicured finger at Bette.
Bette tried to look appalled. "Why I’m a little hurt." She placed her hands on her chest as she contorted her face as if in pain. "Can’t a girl invite a good friend over for lunch without being suspected of needing something in return?"
Helena laughed. "Well as much as I want to give you the benefit of the doubt my dear, I believe I cannot."
"And why is that?" Bette asked as she tilted her head to the side.
Helena took her newly filled wine glass in her hand and swirled the liquid around the glass. "We never had lunch together, just the two of us. The three stooges were always present." She said as she took a sip, her eyes never leaving Bette. "So its just two things Bette — its either you want something from me or you want me. Which one is it?" Helena joked, her eyes glinting.

Bette reacts violently when she doesn’t get her way, hmm…I don’t think this will be pretty. I am glad that Tina was there for Sam though.
