Just The Girl – Chapter Twenty Nine (a HYD-inspired fic)
AHHH..
“Umm..” Sam swallowed hard and bit her lower lip as she slowly inched her way out of her chair. “I.. uhh.. I promised.. Shane..” She shuffled on her feet, eyeing Helena nervously. “You wanna?” She nodded her head awkwardly towards the stage. “Guess not.” She gulped when the brunette narrowed her eyes at her. She jumped up slightly as the bass started to mimic the furious beating inside her chest. “Shit..” She cursed desperately under her breath as the crowd started to thicken in front of the stage.
DOLLS..
“Fine.” Helena rolled her eyes and waved her hand. “Go.” She shook her head in resignation.
“Yay!” Sam yelled and clapped her hands together in excitement. Helena shot her the evil eye. “I mean.. I mean.. thanks!” Sam stuttered as she ran towards the stage and fought her way past the crowd. There would be no chance in hell that she would be turning back to look at their table, she wouldn’t risk seeing Helena change her mind and call her back. Luckily for her though, the Peabody heiress decided to leave their table for awhile to catch up with a few friends outside the pergola.
FELLAS..
“The Pussycat Dolls?” Tina arched an eyebrow, turning her body towards the restless brunette beside her. Bette, feeling a little edgy and left out, craned her neck in a vain attempt to look for her friends among the sea of heads.
“I told you it was Shane’s idea.” Bette answered in a small voice, looking at Tina through the corner of her eyes. “You want to watch?” She asked hopefully, eyeing the blonde cautiously.
“No.” Tina shook her head indignantly and huffed in irritation. Under normal circumstances, she would have been one of the first people elbowing her way towards the front of the stage. But not now. She narrowed her eyes as she studied an antsy looking Bette as the brunette stole glances at the stage. Paul van Dyk called Bette to the stage for a few minutes during his set and performed a song for the birthday girl. That was fine with Tina since the DJ was a man and he stood behind the turntables the entire time. But now, Tina squinted her eyes as she watched the intro video being shown through the huge LCD screens beside the stage, there would be five girls who’d probably call Bette to join them on stage. “Shit.” She cursed beneath her breath as she began to realize just why she was feeling agitated all of a sudden. Tina, though she would try to appear unaffected, was feeling more than a little jealous and threatened.
