Lady Slayer
"These old things…?" Bette said with a crooked smile, not yet used to receiving compliments from Tina.
"Yeah, those old things…, they look…, hot…, and sexy…" Tina dared to say the words that passed through her mind the moment she saw Bette in them.
Bette blushed at the words, words she had used to describe Tina’s own attire only two days before.
"Do I see Bette Porter blushing?"
"Moi? Blushing…? No, it’s just a little hot in here…" Bette smiled at the words, thankful that the tension between them had eased somewhat.
"Come on let’s go…" Tina said with a smile.
"T…" Bette said before they turned and walked back out into the Planet, to the staring faces of her friends and family, "thank you…"
"No need Bette, it’s me that needs to be making some apologies to you, but I need to do it somewhere other than the bathroom of a cafe…"
“Come on, let’s go…”
“Oh by the way…, have you had any breakfast?” Tina asked, having noticed how pale Bette looked, and somehow fathoming that she was the sort of person that would forego her first meal of the day if she was not feeling tip top.
Bette opened the door for them to return to the table, she looked to Tina following her words, “uh…, I could only manage coffee before I left home…”
“Could we get something here to takeaway?”
“I’ll ask Kit to sort something out…”
They walked side by side back to the table, noticing how they were being watched each step of the way.
“You okay baby girl?” Kit asked as she stood when Bette approached.
“I’m fine Kit…”
“Come here…” Kit said with a big smile as her arms engulfed her sister, her mouth came close to Bette’s ear, “is this one special honey?” she whispered.
“Yeah…, she is…”
“And is she the one to break that goddamn curse…?”
“Could well be Kit…, could well be…” Bette replied, with as much certainty as she could muster in answering a question that she had no clue as to whether an answer existed.
Bette broke the embrace, kissing her sisters cheek as they parted, “could you whip us up some breakfast to take out please Kit?”
“Of course baby girl…, but not until you introduce me…”
Bette turned to Tina, “C’mere T…, okay…, Kit this is Tina…, Tina, meet my sister Kit…”
“Hi Kit…, nice to meet you…” Tina said as she extended her hand.
“Hey Tina, so… you were the blonde huh?”
“Kit…” Bette said sternly.
Tina smiled at the words and also at Bette’s reaction, was life around Bette Porter ever simple, she wondered as she answered Kit’s question, “yes Kit, I was the blonde, but I’m not keeping her warm at night…, not yet anyway…”
Bette’s head bolted around to face Tina, her eyes were wide and her lips parted but no words came forth.
Tina smiled at the startled look on Bette’s face, it was one to match Kit’s as they both looked at her, her smile widened as she winked at Bette and broke the stunned silence, “ready to go?”
“Uh…, yeah…”
“Okay…, nice to meet you Kit, thanks for the invitation Alice, good to see you guys again…” Tina said to the onlookers.
The gang all looked on in continued silence, none of them not quite sure what to make of the woman that seemed to have silenced the formidable Bette Porter, the one thing they all did as they watched the two women walk away was to smile, a slow smile as they each in turn began to nod their heads, knowing that indeed ‘the Blonde’ really had caused a chink in the armour of the Lady Slayer…

Jo, I do love this story and the way you have them playing off each other. Your Tina is not going to be a wimp, she has a good bit of alpha and I like that very much. Can’t stand wimpy women.PPS. Thanks.
Well, I certainly can’t wait for the chapter either ! I find this Tina to be quite endearing. We had seen her shy and sensitive side in the previous chapters, but she just showed us she could also be pretty bold and forthright. I like these kinds of paraodoxes in people, I love complex personalities. As for the formidable Bette Porter, well, she obviously isn’t a dull character either, but you already said it all, Jo, there isn’t much I can add for the moment, is there ? Anyway, this was a very nice appetizer before what’s going to be a delightful “plat de résistance” I’m sure. Well, except this time the plat de résistance will actually be breakfast, but you definitely made us angry for more, Jo. Oh, and I’m glad Tina noticed Bette’s Levis, “those old things” ( LOL ! That was a good one ! ). It seems this “blonde bomshell” has good taste, huh ? Someday, you’ll have to tell the “birth” of the legend of Bette’s Levis though…You know that, Jo, don’t you ?
I do believe the slayer has been slayed. Bette is already gone. Love how Tina is teasing her, and yet knows exactly what to say to calm the hyper Porter. Can’t wait for “Yet”
Hey, nice…
And they didn’t even get breakfast. Maybe Tina can whip up some food when she gets to Bette’s place. The Lady Slayer and her Blond Bombshell or the Lady Slayer and her Blond, sort of like a Disney movie. Love the Levis and the lost look in Tina’s eyes when she came face to face with Bette. Not that I like that Tina is confused it is the that Bette has made such an impression on Tina that she is mightly confused (did that make sense?).
Awwwww….. what a sweet chapter. It maybe a filler…. but it certainly did the trick for me LOL. Reading this story I can’t help thinking about how scary love can be at times…. and to some people. When we’re faced with what could potentially be the most wonderful and uplifting thing we recoil and hide…. *sigh* LOL… but love will do that to you, I guess. You write this so well, Jo. And I love how you just ALWAYS seem to make the Levi’s play an intrinsic role in every one of your stories. Thank you!
u made me laugh so with ‘big gob…sometimes she wondered if Kit and Alice’ were related…me to, great illustration if Bette’s diffidence…paint the restroom soon…loving this, pps

dunno how that posted 2x…anywayz i meant ‘of bette’s diffidence’…and….i liked T’s comment about not keeping bette warm ‘yet’…
that is sooooooooooo sweetttttttttttttt
Love this story. I like how Bette and Tina just feel better being around each other.. how slowly they are gaining this trust in telling each other their feelings. Can’t wait to see if they decide to maybe give this a go. If so, Bette is going to have to be on her best behavior because it looks like Tina has been screwed over before and is wary of people.. Can’t wait for the next one. PPS.
Amazing how long those 501s last. They’re already old at this stage? Wear like iron. Which lasted longer, those jeans or Bette’s armor before meeting Tina?
LOL…..Tina got the lady slayer all tied up to the point of leaving without breakfast…rmao
Those Levis………iconic, aren’t they? It’s funny when in the throes of emotion the mind can make you notice mundane things like a ceiling that needs repainting? Sweet chapter to get us on our merry way. PPS.
Ah, the Levis: the embodiment of inevitability. Tina’s a goner, and she knows it, hence the use of the word “yet” regarding keeping Bette warm at night. Roll on, fate. Delightful, Jo. I’m looking forward to your next update.
Thanks Jo, Bette and those damn Levis!!!! Just love it. Now back to Bette’s and there talk. PPVS
Pure delight – as simple as that. I have such a weakness for this story of yours, really ! Wonderfully thought and written, with this true “touch” only best authors here always have. You know, some details like our two sharing the same “train of thought” about this door neading repainting (well, could be a beautiful metaphore for their discovering-new-feelings hearts ! ^_^) are a part of this “touch” I spoke about : a certain sense of subtlety and originality. Brushstrokes on writing’s canvas – I love that. And I love this story. And… I cannot wait for an update, so I will do something I rarely dare to do : I’m begging ! (*wink & grin*) Many, many thanks for this Sunday’s piece of sunlight in my sky. ~A.~
The formidable Bette Porter.. Had to get that in there somewhere, didn’t you? :) Post son, I know we’re all itching for another post. Can’t wait. I do love this story. A LOT. I could barely contain my excitement when I saw you’d updated :) Fantastic “short filler” Loving it. Angel D xx
When Alphabette gets shy and unsure of herself you know something serious is going on in her life. She has been bitten by a lovebug called Tina who seems to complete her. Kit with the big mouth this time huh but at least she learns from her mistakes unlike Alice. Hope to see your next chapter soon.
Yep–what they all said! Waiting impatiently for your next chapter!
AWESOME CHAPTER! But of course never long enough. You paint such a great picture on how these two just belong together.
LOL! You go Tina! Excellent Jo! I’m loving every second .. uh i mean every word of this! :)
Grea! Tina has my admiration: have silenced Bette Porter and company is not a easy thing but Kennard know how to deal with it. thanks for the chapter
Hey boring Jobadge….where is that kiss??? LMAO. But it was a very sweet post…so who cares if it’s a filler :o)) More…post more, you are so slow LMAO. xx
Brilliant! Love all of it, even Alice and her big mouth. I always see Tina as actualy being the stronger of the 2, at the very emotionally. I like how this begining shows T, subtley leading Bette, soothing her. I don’t think the show has actually portayed her enough this way to convince us she was Bette’s equal or what she meant to Bette prior to the pilot episode, seaon 1. Love backstory that explores all of this. Thanks
Jo is back with a vengence ladies. Love how this story is progressing, sorry this comment is so late, I’ve been away and am getting caught up!
That was great!
