Leap of Faith (Chapter 7)

The week leading into Think Pink was always a blur of non-stop activity, no matter how well the days were planned. There were the usual lists of things from load-ins to table assignments, last-minute auction items to speech writing – and rewriting –fittings and hair appointments to florals and security. The Pro-Celebrity Tournament had its own logistics to be addressed, not to mention the sponsors who, rightly, needed and got, face time with Dana, Alice, Beth Kenyon, Jennifer Garner, Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow and Billie Jean King. Sheryl was new to Think Pink this year, but proved to be a total team player when it came to trading her celebrity for the cause. Al and Dane did their usual divide and conquer, talking and texting constantly, occasionally running into each other in between the daily business lunches and dinners.
“Baby,” Alice whispered as they waited to be seated, ”maybe you should let me take this…I’ll tell them you had an emergency and will call them in the morning.” Alice tried again to get Dana to slow down a little, knowing that she was fighting morning sickness and extreme fatigue.
“I’m fine,” Dana gave Al her best grin and squeezed her waist a little tighter. “It’s nothing I can’t handle.”
“Okay, I know you’re a tough girl,” Alice answered, “but you know you don’t have to be, right? You’re making a whole new person…” Dana stopped her with a kiss.
“Let’s get through Saturday,” Dana said softly. “I promise…I’ll take it easy and let you take care of us.”
Alice nodded, too misted up to speak. She was saved from a total girlie moment when the hostess escorted them to their table, where the sponsors were already waiting. That night, the mommies to be gratefully let Dave nudge them into bed, where he was still settling in, even as they snuggled into their spoon and fell asleep the moment their heads hit their pillows. Dana and Alice Fairbanks had never been happier.
Bette first became aware of the rumors less than twenty-four hours after she finally fired Nadia Karella. Tina advised her to go to Chancellor Kroll immediately, but Bette hesitated, secure in the knowledge that she’d done nothing wrong. She’d thought Tina was going to come through the phone when she’d told her about the former Teacher’s Assistant’s outrageous behavior. In an odd way, Tina’s capacity to feel that kind of jealously was comforting, something of which Bette was not proud. As the weeks passed, Bette convinced herself that things were returning to normal, a mistake in judgment that had returned to bite her in the ass this very morning. She closed her eyes in frustration.

Yay, welcome back! And congrats on the new puppy! As to the chapter, I loved it as always, and I’m still blown away by how well you intertwine all the different storylines. I’ll be glad when Danish finally get some rest, especially with Dana’s delicate condition. The little moment with Dave was adorable and funny. Glad the rest of the group was so happy about the mini-Danish news. I’m also glad that Tina’s being so supportive in the aftermath of the slutty TA. Kit’s storyline is great, I’m a little anxious to see where that goes. She’s so often neglected in fanfics, my own included, which is a real shame. Got to love Foxy Brown! lol. I’m a little concerned for Shane and the timing of her pills, that can be dangerous. I hope one of her friends realizes it and stops her before she does more harm to herself than help. Helena is being wonderful in her support of Lara and presenting another side to her sister’s turnaround. And Jenny’s back! Yay! lol. I’ll shut up now, but this story never ceases to amaze me.
Wow so much good excitment to combat the crazy negative drama. I am so excited for Alice and Dana. At the same time I have nervous anticipation waiting to see what happens to Bette. I hope Lara finds some way to communicate with Helena because she needs Helena and Helena needs her. Now our Shane is falling in love and dealing with the fall out of her life long struggles, I hope she really works to share her needs with the family.
What a wonderful way to start off the week!! I am doing my version of the HDD (Electric Slide with some Hustle thrown in — ’cause I rock it old school). Love, love, love your Danish. I will be happy when Think Pink is over — it is a tough anniversary as it is and it sound like both girls are wiped out. The thing with Dave was hysterical. Is that from personal experience? Damn Nadia! Argh. I’m glad Tina is standing strong by Bette. Bad Shane! You gotta take those pills on time. Hopefully someone calls her on it. Poor Lara. I hope she and Helena can find a way through their current problems. They do seem like a good couple. Charlotte re-wrote her will? Interesting… The thing with Kit is intriguing. I’m curious to see where it goes. The last scene was great — all the secrets swirling around only to be temporarily blown away by the joy that everyone displayed for Alice and Dana. Oh! And I am glad Alice finally got some. Poor girl’s ears were going to fall off or something. Thanks so much, SammysGirl, for finding the time to continue on with the story. You do such a masterful job at telling involved and engaging stories of all the characters. I’ll be patiently waiting for when you have time to post another update.

Ms. Jenny Schecter, globetrotting novelist lol that’s great, that really tickled me for some reason. Great chapter, I couldn’t really focus on the sexy since I’m at work but you know I’m coming back to read that again. Loved the Kit story bit and Bette’s storyline is reading really strong for me too. I bet Dana looks so adorable with a baby bump she’s the kind of woman that would have a sexy glow pregnant. Love loved the chapter and I can’t wait to get another update PPS.
