Daisy was walking down the street
with Shane, who was still bandaged up from her operation.  It had been the longest two weeks of Shane’s
very young yet eventful life.  She was
just hours away from taking the bandages off, and finding out just how much of
her vision was going to be restored.

She was nervous, but hopeful in a
way she’d never been before.  No matter
how things turned out, it was all going to be well worth it.  She knew even if she didn’t see anything ever
again, she had Dana in her life.  For now
and forever.  She smiled at the thought, and
then she heard Daisy muttering to herself and then said.

“You do know I enjoyed this
right?  These two weeks of hard labor of
walking ya around the city?  The *****
women tossing us hot looks?  I love it,
you know that?”  Daisy asked, tossing her
blonde hair back from her face as they walked down the street.

It was a bright sunny day in LA,
complimenting each of their moods.  Daisy
had on a pair of jean shorts, a black tank top that showed off her newest
tattoo.  An armband around her left upper
arm, small hearts filled with the colors of the rainbow.  Cassandra had ranted and raved about it, Tina
had found it cute.  She was also wearing
a pair of very dark sunglasses, to filter out the blazing white-hot sun of the
    California day.  Shane smiled, feeling
suddenly like an Aunt and not a friend to the young woman.

“Uh huh.”  Shane said and Daisy rolled her eyes,
snorting in a manner that made Shane think of Alice instantly.  In the last few weeks, many things the girl
had said and did had reminded Shane of Alice.
The timbre of her voice, the sweet sharp sarcasm, the way she tried to
pull the cup of coffee away from her when she thought Shane wouldn’t
notice.  So many little things that made
    her just who she was.

                “So how’s the family thing
going?”  Shane asked, stopping at the
curb her cane having hit the small up raised edge.  Daisy hooked her arm into Shane’s and sighed,
pushing her chin onto Shane’s shoulder.
Things were weird, having two families.
She’d never had one, now she had to juggle two and a new girlfriend.  She was wondering if she was ever going to
have time for school when it began.

    3. Hey, you got me on that one! I see the commencement of the Gathering. Although, the anthropology of hetero relations (straight girl here)makes it hard for me to wrap my mind around the congeniality of this assembly. In other words, how B, C, T and C can “hang together” without a smackdown is beyond me.
