Life Choice (Chapter 2)
A mild fever is but a minor inconvenience for most of us, but for a cancer patient, particularly one with a compromised immune system, it can pose a serious threat. Dana knew she was sick before she woke up, but tried to will it away. She tossed and turned, waking Alice, who hadn’t seen her this restless since the first weeks after her surgery. Still, she couldn’t help but smile as Dana snuggled against her and copped a feel, gently massaging Alice’s bare breasts in her sleep, before rolling away.
“You are so gay," Al reached over to rub her shoulders. "Wake up Dane.” She glanced at the clock. It was already 9:30. They’d slept straight through, which wasn’t something Alice did anymore. Over the past eleven months she’d gradually adapted to Dana’s habit of rising early. Even if one or both went back to sleep for a while, they’d had coffee and mapped out their day.
“Baby, did I wear you out?” Alice turned and took Dana in her arms. “We sure made up for lost time yesterday.”
“Yeah, we did,” Dana said into her pillow, grinning in spite of her discomfort. Alice kissed her cheek and quickly moved her hand to Dana’s forehead. Her concern was immediate.
“You’re warm. Do you feel okay? Alice went to get the thermometer without taking the time to cover herself. She put it under Dana’s tongue before she knew what hit her.
“I’m so sorry Dane. I should have realized that I could give you something.” Alice threw on the first clothes she found and went back to the bathroom to get Dana some Tylenol and a glass of water. The thermometer beeped and Dana pulled it from her mouth, but Al scooped it from her hand before she could read it.
“It’s nothing Alice, just a little bug…” Dana tried to reassure her.
“Take these,” Alice interrupted, handing her the gel caps and glass. “You’re at 100.6. I’m calling Dr. Bowman.”
“It’s Saturday. Why don’t we wait and see how I feel in a couple hours? I don’t think oncologists have these kind of emergencies.”
“We’re not taking any chances.” Alice was dialing the phone as she spoke and left an urgent message with the service.
“I think you should take a shower while we wait.” She went to run the water, leaving Dana a moment to process what was happening.

Uh, you’re still a happy Danish fan, right? Just kidding, although this chapter was just a little, well a lot sadder than last time, but I’m still hangin on really hard to that faith:) Please let the decision that Alice has to make turn out for the better rather than worse. Anyways, this is great so pleeease post soon!
oh my god! You made me cry! Absolutely heartbreaking. Loved the update, and I’m looking forward to more. Dana needs to pull trough. No more Dana dying. It got me way too depressed the first time it happened. I need some happen Danish in the end. Great writing. Despite the crying, I really did enjoy it. I can’t wait to see what is going to happen.
Dude……..don’t you dare even think about it! This is so awesome and so freaking horrible at the same time! I’m serious! I am pissed! She’s gotta get better. You’re doing a great job or I wouldn’t be so angry! LOL Keep it up and keep Dana alive!!!
wow! poor dana! poor alice! what a huge decision.
oh man, this is truly a heartbreaking piece. I hope you give us a happy solution soon. Great update!
I agree with Adelefiz the coma will only help her get better. I have more faith in you Sammy than I do in IC. The story is great though, real emotions coming across big time! Hope you keep it up and looking forward to the next chapter.
Woh.. this is heart wrenching stuff!! very emotional and real and my stomach is in knots again. Dana is in a coma, but she can fight it with the help of Alice, friends and family. Glad Sharon has seen the true Danish love and eased up. Keep goin and post soon, Thanks.
omg. this is so fucking sad. its like watching an even sadder version of the show. when alice decides everything. man..please post soon
Ok, just to let you know, I’m crying my little heart out right now. Absolutely BRILLIANT chapter! I feel like I’m tossed right back into season three (a much better written season three), and I’m hoping with everything in me that you make this a happy ending. God, you’re amazing! Please post again soon!
Wow…this really is excellent. So well written – humourous and heartwrenching in the same chapter. Keep going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this story, you can feel the love they have for each other in every gesture they make. I like the way you have intertwined your story with the one on the show. Magnificient writing. If you keep it up like this, I will run out of all the superlatives there are.
