    “Would you like to have dinner with me tonight?” Bette asked
    “…I already have plans for tonight.” Tina said

    Chapter 2 of Life Savers

     

    A short time had passed but to Bette and Tina it seemed like much longer. They continued to look into each others eyes and softly caress each others hand. They were lost in their own little world. That is until Ryan walked up to the open doors to check on Bette.

     

    Ryan: “Porter, how are you….oh, my bad.” Noticing that he had interrupted something between the two women when he saw them jerk their hands apart, and from the looks on their faces.

     

    Bette: “Its okay. What’s up?” She said while shaking her head as she looked at Ryan.

     

    Ryan: “I was told by the chief to come and check on you and see find out if you had the ok to get back to work.” He said eyeing both women with a small smile on his face.

     

    Tina: “No, she doesn’t, right now. Her vitals aren’t where I’d like them to be just yet, and her temperature is a little high. But after the IV is done and I check her again she should be ok.”

     

    Ryan stood their watching the two for a few seconds, thinking “If a woman like you had just touched me I’d be a little hot, too!” Then he said out loud, “Alright well I’ll tell the chief and check back in a few,” before he walked off to get back to work.

     

    Bette physically felt like she could get back to work but didn’t want to leave Tina just yet. She knew she felt something happening between them but she wasn’t sure what, and she knew that Tina had been flirting with her a few minutes ago, but she didn’t know what to do about it. Bette had never felt this way about anyone, especially not when first meeting them so she decided to stay silent just for now. They continued to talk and flirt until the IV had finally finished and Tina had no other reason to keep Bette with her any longer. About that time Ryan came back to the truck, this time peeking to make sure he wasn’t interrupting anything and then made himself known.

     

    Ryan: “So, are you ready to get back to work? There’s not a whole lot left to do. I guess I can’t blame you for wanting to stay in this beautiful woman’s company that you can’t seem to take your eyes off of. I can totally understand why you’re making excuses to stay here with her but I’m ready to go home, so get her number and come on!” He said with a big smile on his face before he walked off.

    12. When I read the name of the story, I was thinking of the live savers candy, and then I thought of a life guard but now I understand that it EMS and fire department personel. Can’t wait for the dinner to take place. Is it Friday yet?
