Liz took Alices hand and dragged her to the side of the house where Bette and Tina had set out the shelves to dry. Alices eyes nearly bugged out of her head and she quickly ran back to the pool to try and get the wood out. She put Sky down near his blocks and told him to play nice while aunty helps Liz with something and together both her and Liz got the two pieces of wood out of the water. Luckily Bette and Tina had been smart when buying Liz markers and they were the water based ones so with a little scrubbing the marker was mostly out with just a few traces of color on the white wood. Once she was satisfied with the wood Alice turned and shook her head at Liz.

Alice just smiled at Liz and put an arm around her shoulders. Alice had a feeling that Liz had no idea how much trouble she would have been in if either Bette or Tina had seen what she was doing, not to mention how mad both of them would have been at Alice for letting Liz play with the wood. Alice and Liz put the wood back with the others and Alice made Liz promise not to play with those any more. Liz just nodded yes and so Alice decided to just keep this little incident between her and Liz for now.

Nothing munchkinjust dont play with this anymore okay? And dont tell your mommies that you were playing with these okay?

The rest of the day passed without any more mishaps and Alice was grateful for that. She stuck around to have dinner with Bette, Tina and the kids and after dinner they told her to stay since they were pretty much done with Skys room and they wanted her to see it. Alice was helping Tina do the dishes while Bette went outside to get the shelves so they could finish their job and she came back in holding the pieces that Liz had turned into her boat.

Tdo you know why these pieces are still wet? They should be dry by nowtheyve been outside all day

Alice looked at the wood in Bettes hand and almost choked on the water she was drinking. Bette and Tina looked at her strangely but she just waived her hand indicating that she was okay and they let it go. Just then Liz came wandering into the kitchen and Bette looked at her suspiciously.

Lizdo you know why these pieces of wood are wet?

Huh?

Liz looked wide eyed at the wood that Bette was holding and she shot Alice and look that clearly said help me. Alice quickly sprang to life and she walked over to Liz scooping her up into her arms.

She doesnt know anything about that right Liz? We were playing with Sky all afternoon right?

Liz giggled and nodded yes as Alice turned and together with Liz gave Bette and Tina the sweetest smiles they could muster. Bette looked at Alice with one eyebrow raised but after looking at Tina who looked like she believed them Bette just shrugged and went to get the rest of the wood to finish the shelves. Alice left soon after that but before she did she went to say good night to Liz and remind her to keep the boat races just between them. Liz laughed and said she would and Alice shook her head knowingly at Liz as she walked out of the room. Alice knew that she probably should have told Bette and Tina what happened but she didnt want Liz to get in trouble again for doing something that wasnt terribly bad. If Bette and Tina ever found out what happened Alice would never hear the end of it but she just decided to enjoy her secret for now, after all, what are godmothers for?
