    Life’s Unexpected Turns Chap 36

“How are we doing, do you need anything?”

“I’m doing okay. Yes I do need something.”

“What can I get for you?”

“My partner is going to be coming in and I was hoping that we wouldn’t be disturbed.”

“Sure I will let the other nurses know.”

“I do have a visitor coming in at 3:30, its okay for her to come in.”

“Okay it will be taken care of.”

    “Thank you so much.”

    “Your welcome.”

Dana’s head was swirling with what she wanted to talk to Alice about. She loved Alice without a doubt in her mind. She did want to marry her but they needed to get some things in line first. She wanted to get Ethan home and situated and at least start mending things with her mother.

    “I just hope Alice understands.”

The taxi pulled up and Dana got in, she had the drive stop off at the Planet so she could get some food for Alice. As the taxi got closer and closer to the hospital Dana was getting more and more nervous. The driver helped Dana out; she took a deep breath before heading into to see Alice. The nurses let Dana through without a problem; she went into the room and saw Alice scribbling on a piece of paper.

    “I’m here Alice.”

    “Oh hi baby.”

Dana walked over and kissed her girlfriend. Alice could tell that Dana was nervous when she sat down she was all fidgety. Dana finally broke the silence.

“Alice you know I love you right?”

“Of course I do, Dana whatever you need to say you know you can say it.”

“This isn’t easy Alice I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Just tell me what’s on your mind.”

“It’s not that I don’t love you because I do. I don’t want you thinking I changed my mind, there’s no doubt in my mind that I want to spend the rest of my life with you, but I just don’t think right now is the time to be planning a wedding. We…well more me than have a lot on going on right now and I don’t want to start our marriage off strained.”

Dana sat and waited for Alice’s response.

“I never meant to freak you out Dana. We don’t have to get married right away we don’t even have to get engaged or rings. Just being with you is enough for me I don’t need a ceremony or anything. I just want to spend the rest of my life with you. I know we have a lot going on with your career Ethan, not to mention you mom, but WE will deal with it. I don’t want you thinking that you need to take it all on yourself because you don’t. I don’t know why I felt the need to propose if just felt right at the time. But I agree now is not the time to be getting married and had I thought about it I would have never proposed.”

    1. New chapter. Yay!! I am so glad that Dana and Alice talked — and that they were both ready to talk and listen. If they can keep that communication going, they can work their ways through anything. Great update!! Thank you so much!
