“Yesshe has taken more steps than I have ever seen her take. Go to Momma B Angelica. Hold out your arms Bette, let her toddle to you.”

            “Come on honeycome to Momma B. You are doing great, baby. That’s my girl.” The excitement in Bette’s voice was contagious.

            “Bette, look at her. Our baby is walking.” There were tears in her eyes as she watched Bette watch Angelica.

            “She is, T. Our baby is getting too big.” With those words, Angelica made it to her Momma’s arms. Bette scooped her up and kissed her as she walked towards Tina. The two women embraced and rejoiced in their excitement over the accomplishments of their baby.

            “Bette, we are going to need to work something out. I can not just take her away from you. But you really pissed me off. You can’t just take her on a whim. You have to have more respect for me. I am sorry that our relationship did not work out. I am sorry that I hurt you. However, we have a child together. We have to do something.”

            “Tina, I agree. I am sorry about taking her. I love her. I could not love her more if I would have given birth. Don’t take her away from me. I lost her mommy. Don’t make me lose Angelica too.”

            “I will think of a compromise. That is the best I can do. Angelica, give momma B a kiss and let’s go to bed.” Tina looked at Bette as she leaned to hand the baby to her mom. She kissed her hair and told her she loved her.

            “Thank you Tina. Please take care of yourself. Take care of our daughter. Call me if you need me. EVER!”

            “Good night Bette. I will see you back in L.A. Take care of Alice and Carmen as well. They need you.”

            The two women walked away. Bette looked back and watched as her family left her. Tears filled her eyes. She had made a choice. She could not leave L.A. She would turn down the NY offer. She could not leave her daughter. Taking a deep breath she walked into her room and closed the door.  She picked up her cell phone.             “James, Hi it is me, Bette. Listen I need a huge favor from you. I know you don’t work for me anymore, but perhaps you could. Would you get the number of Seth? I need to talk him about a gallery.”

            “Are you going to open another gallery, Bette?

            “I am considering it. Would you be interested in being my assistant? I am going to need one if I take this on.”

            “Bette, you know I would love to work with you again. I miss you.”

            “Thank you James, I miss you too. Hopefully not for long though. So you will locate Seth and set up an appointment for me?”

            “Consider it done, boss. Hey Bette how are things with you and Tina?”

            “James that is a long story. However, when I get back in town, let’s go for coffee.”

            “You got it Bette. Talk to you soon.”

            “Thanks James. Bye.”

            “Bye Bette.”
