    Lost & Found, Ch2

(Somewhere not so familiar, surroundings beyond the very familiar….but a time in the present, in a place not so known but not far from those we all know so well…)
(Her e-mail dings and she opens the new message. It’s from her again…)

“Hi….it’s me again. I hope you’re well. I’m just catching up on some work. I’m tired. I don’t want to be here anymore. It’s just so frustrating. My mind and heart are not here. I wish I could follow them instead of live this apathetic daily grind. I haven’t heard from anyone lately. No e-mails, no messages…it’s feeling so isolated. I’m on my own, just going through the motions. I wish you were here. I miss you. I miss you terribly.”

(She reads it a couple of times. She wants to respond but she feels like she shouldn’t. It’s too much right now, this neediness across the invisible and wireless airways, tugging at her heart. She’s so fond of her, but she doesn’t want to lose a friend just to gain moments of emotional and other intimacy…it would make the young woman so happy but the older woman knows how short lived it would be and how life would end such a treasured friendship so very quickly. She thinks hard, but no thoughts register. She stares at the e-mail and starts to write back…)

“Hello my sweet. I just got in and have to go in a bit. I’m really busy and can’t email as often. I miss you as well. It’s too bad so much distance divides us. You really need to make some changes and refresh yourself. We all deal with the drudgery of daily life…that’s part of life. Be thankful you have what you do because so many others have so much less. Everything will be ok, I know you’ll be fine. Take a break from things, fix yourself up, go out…maybe you’ll meet someone nice and he’ll sweep you off your feet. Look at me…I’m so much older and yet now thinking of marrying that fellow I told you about. You must have hope. Anyway, we’ll talk soon, ok? I have to go. Hugs and kisses, little one.”

    1. Hee Hee T, if you could only see me smiling throughout. This was lovely, and quite entertaining. I like the light, playful banter. So sweet. So…you got Chapter three hanging somehwere? LMAO!

    3. Bette really doesn’t seem to be living up to the “Lothario” title Alice gave her. Maybe Alice is wrong about Tina, too. She better be or we won’t have much of a story.

    4. I have missed your storytelling — so glad that you are back with another. And I always get such a kick out of the names you come up with for your characters!! Thanks for sharing with us.

    5. Just caught up with both chapters… cute B&T beginning so far ;) Something is cooking with the relationship between Bette,EB,and Justine..interesting mix. Look forward to your next post and glad to have you back.
