“Really? Well hello Janet.  Nice to meet you.”  She said holding out her hand to shake the nervous blonds hand.

Janet looked over at Tina to make sure it was ok to not leave Bette hanging.  Tina gave a wave to the freshman to carry on, but she gave a stern look so she knew not to get carried away.  Janet understood and gave Bette’s hand a vigorous but expeditious shake before pulling away.

“I saw you play on TV last weekend.  You had a great game.”

“Thank you Janet.”  Bette smiled widely before catching a glimpse of a perturbed  Tina.  She is not amused by this exchange at all.

“Will you be at our game on Saturday?”

“Yes of course.  It will be my first time watching my baby light it up.”  Bette said winking at Tina and grabbing her by the waist and pulling her close.  This was to send a clear message to both blonds before her.   One that said she was totally in love with and supportive of her girlfriend, especially in front of her new fan.  The girl was cute, but she is no Tina.  

Tina told herself she was not threatened at all by the blond.  She saw how she was blushing like an idiot seeing Bette in the flesh.  Bette for her part tried to act all nonchalant, but Tina knew her lover was slightly amused by the younger blonds exuberance.

“Well ladies, we’re gonna get going.  Jan, I’ll see you at practice tomorrow.  Desi, I’ll text you later.”  Tina said walking to the passenger side of the car.  Bette took her queue and reached in behind Tina and opened the door for her girlfriend.  She has a feeling in the pit of her stomach that they are about to have a serious conversation and she wants to get as many good girlfriend points as she can get.

“Bye guys.  It was good to see you Desi.  Nice to meet you Janet.”

Tina casually looked at her girlfriend trying her best not to let her face belie her true emotion in that moment.

When they were in the car silence enveloped them for a few minutes.

Finally, Bette broke the silence, “T, you know you have no…”
