    Love and Basketball Chapter 59

Tina is just going through the motions at practice.  She can’t seem to concentrate on what she’s doing and Janet has stolen the ball from her again.

“Damn it,” Tina cursed as she took off trying to catch up to the sophomore, who has been after her spot all year.  She’s fast, but Tina is faster and she picked a spot in front of Janet and set her feet to take the charge.

“Offensive foul.  Tina take the ball out.”  After Tina was knocked on her ass, she seemed to shake the horrible thoughts she was having about the state of relationship.  For the rest of practice she managed to look the part of the star ball player she is.

After practice coach asked Tina to come to her office.

Tina knocked tentatively on the door.  She was afraid coach would take her starting spot away because of how she sucked today in practice.

“You wanted to see me coach?”

“Sit.”  Tina sat down and looked down and she waited for the coach Sandy to tell her she will not be starting in the next game.

“Tina, what’s going on?  Is everything ok at home?”

“Yes coach.  Everything’s good at home.”  Tina answered.

“Have you decided on what school you want to go to next year?”

“Not yet.  I’m still deciding between USC and Stanford.”

“Aha.  Stanford.  How are you and Bette doing?”

As soon as the older woman mentioned Bette’s name Tina put her head in her hands and started to cry.

If coach had a dollar for  every girl she has seen shed tears over the brunette she could retire comfortably.  She reached for the box of tissues on her desk and sat down next to the blond.

“What’s up Tina?  Did you guys break up?”

“That’s the thing.  I don’t know.  We had a bad fight last night and it got pretty heated.  She hung up me.  She has never done that before.  And she hasn’t called me at all today.”

“Tina, long distance relationships are hard for anyone.”  She reached over to turn Tina toward her.

“They are especially hard for young people, experiencing what may be your first true love.  Give her some time.  I’ve seen the way Bette looks at you.  I’m sure she will call soon.”

“You sound like my mom.”  Tina laughed.

“Well, she sounds like a wise woman.  Seriously, Tina don’t let this worry you so much that it effects your studies or your playing.  You were very distracted today.  Now I know why.  Look whether you and Bette are together at Stanford for the next two years or you go to USC, you will have to bring your A game every night.  You can’t use the excuse that you and your girlfriend had a fight, so that’s why you were held below your average or why your defender managed to steal the ball from you 5 times.  That excuse won’t fly in Division I ball, ok?”

    “Yes coach.”

    “Good.  You’re dismissed.”

Tina stood up and just looked at the coach waiting for her to speak again.

Coach Sandy looked up at her senior guard and asked, “What?”

“I just thought you were going to give my spot to Janet.”

“Tina, you had a bad practice.  That’s it.  Now play that way in two nights against the ladies of WeHo high and we’ll have a little chat.  You understand?”

“Yes coach.”  Tina says as she exhales.  She’s glad she still has her spot.  Now she just has to find out if she still has a girlfriend.

    1. I’m happy that my comment made you lol. Back to asshole, whatever you write about asshole in my book she cheated when she hung up on her girlfriend and called the other girl. I mean the only reason she did it is to spite Tina. That’s another thing, why can’t Tina have someone pining after her to make Bette jealous? So Bette can see how it feels. Why should I cut Bette slack when she does it for herself? I have a feeling these 2 aren’t going to make it but I beg of you, stop making Tina the jealous one in the relationship it’s giving your story an unappealing imbalance. Still love it but hate the drama!!!! Thanks😬

    2. I appreciate the fast posting. I know that life gets in the way of writing and posting chapters. Just know that your efforts are appreciated by your fans.

    3. Wait, I’m i the lone member of Team Bette still? I mean come on, if you keep tellimg me that i’m thirsty eventually i’ll believe you and take a drink. Whether or no Bette got a little frustrated w. Tina and maybe she got a little distraction from another girl doesn’t make her a bad person…does it? Tina should have never let her insecurities get the ebst of her with Bette and if Bette makes a little mistake in her reaction Tina should totally forgive (if she even finds out). And for the record dancing and kissing isn ‘t really cheating so maybe Bette gets close to that line but doesn’t cross it. Great updates…so when do we find out how Bette ended her nighta nd why she hasn’t called or texted Tina yet??

    4. I can see Bette’s point… Tina’s lack of faith is disturbing… and now she’s already feeling the ripples in the force. I think Bette is more hurt that Tina thinks that she would or could cheat… she’s not given Tina any reason to think she would. Bette needs to stay true to herself, Tina’s doubts aside. She doesn’t want to cheat on her girlfriend that she’s in love with, and just because Tina’s insecurities are hurting them both, she shouldn’t give up. Until meeting that girl at the club, Bette really hadn’t done anything wrong. And as of yet, still hasn’t. We’ll see what happens. Thanks for the chapter and please post soon. Thanks :)

    5. Man…this is suck!…wish Bette had some clarity while she’s washing her hand…and sneak her way out of there. :P. cuz that chick is D.A.N.G.E.R.O.U.S. Even if Bette is single no way would she hooked up to that girl. Bad news!

    6. I can understand Bette’s frustration with Tina, but she has no right to go out and seek revenge like she has. I mean, let’s face it. Bette called that hussy Arianna to meet her at the club bcuz she wants to hurt Tina. I don’t like that Bette grinded with Arianna and that she allowed her to kiss her! :( No! Why o why?! I just want to say talaula your comment freaking cracked the hell out of me! LOL the “asshole” bit had me giggling! 😂 bettefortina what do you mean kissing isn’t cheating!? 😳 omg it SO is cheating! Okay, I’m sorry that I’m responding to comments that Ayesha’s job! I just got emotional lol great post! I’m interested in where you’re going to go with your Bette and Tina. Thanks :)

    7. Wow, so heated with the remarks… a good sign that ayesha23 did a good job writing the chapter. LOng distance is so hard because it always brings up the insecurities that we frail humans have. These two women are still young and life does go on. Hopefully, when Bette is in the bathroom, she’ll look at herself in the mirror and realize that she is being an ass and if she walks back out that door to the bar she will lose a very precious person in her life. Gosh let’s pray that she experiences a grown up moment and walks out the back door instead. It could happen… just saying…
