“Well they are simply gorgeous “
“Don’t tell them that – they’ll believe you. Max wins obedience shows round here but Henry – well he’s too dull to do anything other than sleep and chase squirrels. If you ever want to go out on your own you might like to take one or both of them with you – I’ll show you where their stuff is “
Tina picked herself up and smiled “Thanks honey “
“Its okay – grab your bag and I’ll show you your room. Do you want anything to eat? “
“I’m okay – too wound up to eat to be honest “
“Well I’ll show you the kitchen later. Our housekeeper cooks dinner some nights and breakfast during the week. The rest of the time we help ourselves – if there is anything you want that we don’t have I’ll make sure we get it in for you”
“Bette – you know I don’t have fancy tastes “
“Well as a future top lawyer you need to acquire some – I’ll cook lobster some night or better yet take you to one of the amazing restaurants around here. I know that you like fish “
“Love fish”
“Well if the weather holds dad might take us out on his boat and we’ll catch some fish for dinner. This will totally amaze you but Helena is a mean fisherman “
“Helena? “
“Yeah “
“As in your sister?”
“Yes as in my terrific sister – you develop some interesting outdoor skills living out here”
Tina was trying to take it all in – being with Bette, being with her in this picture book location and knowing that this was going to be her home for the next three weeks
“”Come on “Bette grabbed Tina’s rucksack and taking her girlfriends hand lead her upstairs. Bette indicated a door with BETTE on the nameplate
“My room – and Helena and I decided that you might like this room “
She opened the door and let Tina walk inside. The room was every bit as lovely as the rest of the house. It had an old fashioned desk to the left of the window that showed a view across fields and woods. The double bed was vast and covered by an old fashioned cover. There were two wardrobes that were obviously several decades old and made from thick oak and an ottoman at the foot of the bed.

Everyone needs a person as sweet as Bette in their life. Nice update.
Bette’s going be destroyed when she learns what happened to Tina. On a lighter note, I like that the dogs were named Henry and Max and were so easy to please! Nice chapter.
Henry the dog is dull huh? lol This is such a sweet story. I hope Tina tells Bette about the bruises before Bette discovers them though. PPS!

Okay… Although I love this and, don’t get me wrong, am totally happy with the way things are going, I however have a question… I can understand Tina’s angst about the recent events and her need to get her mind around it, hence not getting into some steamy Porter delight for a while… I can understand them clinging to each other at the airport and not thinking about anything else other than hugging, especially this being in a public place in the 80’s… I can understand them wanting to get home really fast and, Bette driving, not getting into another “type” of activity on the way back… I can EVEN understand Tina’s need for a shower before the much needed and awaited cuddle with her lover (I always feel like one after a flight… a shower I mean… well, a cuddle too now that you mention it!)… But then… For God’s sakes, Ally, where is that damn kiss???… Am I truly the only one to miss that precious liplock reunion? Anyhow, just thought I would ask… But hey, Ally, you’re the boss, so ya know… fine by me! Love this anyways! Thanks mate.

It’s taken decades to improve the breed, but due to overbreeding, for a long time (’80s included) Irish Setters had a reputation for being sweet but very stupid. I shall refrain from further comment on Max and Henry except to offer they may very well be good company to Tina on what might otherwise be solitary walks. And let’s hope the weather does hold, because a nor’easter sucks on both land and sea. Regardless, Tina seems to have found a safe harbour.
I think a different, more vicious breed should be set upon Tina’s mother. A large pack of them.
I know what I’d do if I found out my girlfriend had bruises from anyone, so I can imagine how Bette’s going to react. Love it that Henry and Max are dogs. Also love that Bette’s family has taken Tina in, its what mine always did.
Lovely chapter again, Bette is so nice and understanding it’s almost unreal…but I loved it.
I thinks it’s wonderful that Helena wants to see B & T together. I loved the dogs being named Max & Henry, LOL! Bette is going to be crushed when she finds those bruises on Tina’s body. It’s just heart breaking that Tina had to suffer the verbal abuse of her Mom and grandparents, but now physical? Just awful! Post soon.
GREAT work Ally, I too love the fact that the dogs are named for Henry and Max. Well funnyone, now we know why they aren’t Labador Retrievers (ha,ha). Tina should tell Bette about her bruises because she is going to be upset either way, but will be more accepting if it doesn’t appear that Tina is trying to hide them or anything else from her. In the end the only thing Bette could do is try to kiss them away, unless they are severe (which I am sure that they are not). PPS :o)

LOL at Henry and Max as dogs… I kind of fancy it. Great post, as always. Not sure if I’ve commented before (been so behind with my stories!), but I definitely love this version of B&T. And we should all be so lucky to have someone like Bette to look after us.

AAAAAWWWWWWWWWW they are so sweet…yeah liked the dog names thing and that Henry likes to sleep on Bette’s bed but HOWLS in his sleep!!!! Please update as soon as u can…maybe they can get married and that will overcome Tina’s shyness about Bette helping her financially??? I dunno, just a thought…maybe it’s too soon.
