Tuesday ( The Morning After )

Her alarm clock rang and Shane woke up to find her cheek immensley sore; she sat up and walked into her bathroom to take a look at it. It was black and blue where Coach Long had hit her, and deeply scratched and red from Carmen’s slap.

" Fuck … "  Shane thought as she lightly touched the wound

She put her thought behind her and dressed for school, then she went out into the kitchen to find only Papi eating a bagel

" Heyy wh —- , holy shit, are you okay ! " Papi said as she noticed the wounds on Shane’s face

" What this ? Yeah, it’s fine, don’t worry " Shane said lying

" Wow, Carmen really hit you hard, but I mean … you had to do it … "

" Carmen’s not the only one … " 

" Yeah, and even Jenny is pissed at me … "

" You didn’t tell her ?! "

" Didn’t tell me what ? " came Jenny’s calm voice

" Umm … didn’t tell you … that me and Shane were going to go to the Downingtown vs. Oceanside semi-finals today, right Shane ? " Papi lied as she nudged Shane in the side

" What, oh yeah, game, right " she said nervously, going along with it

Jenny raised an eyebrow and said " ooo-kayyy " she never made eye contact with Shane, she was obviously still upset with her

" Jenny, look, what happened yesterday wa — " Shane started but was cut off when Jenny said

" Shane, please, don’t talk about it, i’m very upset and i’d like to avoid talking about it, okay ? " Jenny finished and she still didn’t look at Shane

" As you wish … " Shane replied sadley

" it’s not fair … this isn’t my fault … "

Central High School

Shane was gathering all her books at her locker when she looked down the hall to see Carmen talking to Jenny at her locker. Shane wasn’t sure what to do, walk up and talk to them, avoid them, pretend your sick and skip school, there really wasn’t much of a choice.
