Loving Jenny – Chapter 3: In Love?

“ ‘The rain in Spain isn’t as pretty as Shane’ ,” Alice tried. I smiled and Dana laughed, picking up her beer.

“We could do better, but thanks for the compliment, Al.” Alice smiled at me.

“How about ‘A Night In Shane’,” Dana suggested.

“Okay, Dane, that sounds completely tacky.”

“I agree,” I said. I found myself playing with the metal rings holding the notebook together.

“Hey Jenny!” Alice said, and I turned my attention from the notebook to Jenny, who was walking to our table. When she reached us, she placed her hand on my shoulder, smiling.

“What are you guys doing?” she asked. I smirked.

“Alice and Dana are trying to find a title for the notebook.”

“Got any ideas, Jenny?” Dana asked. Jenny took a seat next to me.

“How about ‘The Shanisodes’ ?” Jenny suggested. I nodded, smirking, while Alice and Dana smiled.

    “That sounds good,” Dana said.

“Then I’ll use it,” I said, and I wrote the title on the notebook. Jenny smiled and grabbed the beer that Kit brought to her. With a low ‘thank you’, she took a sip, and then handed it to me. I took a sip and put it on the table.

“So, what’s up with this notebook thing anyway?” Alice asked.

“I want Shane to write in it so I can get a feel of what she thinks,” Jenny said. I smirked.

“She wants to pick my brains,” I added. Alice laughed and Dana sneered.

“Jenny, you better have some pepto bismol.” I slammed my hand on the table, giving Dana a mock ‘mean’ look, and Jenny placed her head on my shoulder. I could smell her shampoo; it was like heaven.

“I’m sure Shane’s thoughts aren’t that bad.” I smirked at Alice. She was always sticking up for me, even if it was in a playful sort of way. I soon turned my gaze to Jenny, who was jotting notes into her portable notepad. I leaned over and tried to sneak a peek, but she closed it quickly.

    “No looking.”

“You never let me look,” I whined. Jenny giggled; it was a childish giggle. Across the table, I caught Alice and Dana exchanging funny glances.

“Okay, maybe just this once.” Jenny handed me her portable notepad and let me read what she wrote. She was taking notes on novel ideas.
