Lucky in Love (Chapter 22)

The dark floor rushed at her with remarkable speed. By the time it occurred to her to put out her arms, Alice was already splayed into the unforgiving marble. Peggy, Helena, Lara, Bette and Tina were stunned. From their perspective it looked as though Alice landed on her head when she crunched to a halt.
Her first thought, her only thought, was to get to Dana. She fought to remain conscious and immediately tried to get up, but only succeeded in lifting her head and shoulders a couple of inches off the ground. Almost immediately they heard her begin to choke, but no one moved until they saw Alice flailing, apparently trying to get up.
She tried again. And again. Slowly Alice became aware of excruciating pain on her left side, the ringing in her head and the warm, sticky substance pooling around her face. She tried to call for Dana but couldn’t manage anything but a gurgling cough.
In an instant, everyone swung into action. Bette ran toward Alice with Tina lagging two steps behind, calling 911. Lara saw Winnie backing away and pounced, kicking her in the knee and bringing her down. Helena did the only thing she could think of. She sat on her.
Alice’s lips were moving when Bette reached her but she couldn’t speak. Bette placed her hand on the center of Al’s back and gently held her in place.
“Stay still Al,” she said. “You’re hurt and if you try to move, you could make it worse.”
Bette lowered her head into Alice’s field of vision, hoping that if Al saw her face it would help her to calm. Alice’s lips continued to move and Bette realized that she was trying to say Dana’s name. It was only then that she saw that Alice was bleeding profusely from her neck. Bette immediately applied pressure, only to discover that a chunk of glass was protruding from the wound. She closed her hand around it and continued to press firmly.
“She needs help now,” Bette said urgently when Tina caught up and knelt on the other side of Alice.
“The ambulance is on the way,” Tina answered as calmly as she could.
Alice tried to turn her head when she heard Tina’s voice but Bette had her secured. She reached out with her right hand until she felt Tina take it in hers. Her eyes pleaded with Bette as she continued to mouth Dana’s name.

Frustrating??? Noooo….even if there are just this small Shamren parts your story I totally adore them. This sweet little thing like Carmen knowing how Shane feels and taking care of her is awesome.Great as usual!
Whew, what a read! I thought Al was gonna be far worse off than she was, but I’m totally relieved she’ll be okay. I think Dana will too. Thank goodness for level heads and quick thinking on Bette’s part. Oh, and Winnie? You’re done for. Peggy’s got your number, you cow. Great stuff, SG!
Another beautifully written chapter full of emotion and love from the whole gang. You never fail to impress me and I look forward to seeing more of this continuing story very soon.
Wow wow wow, you just set the bar even higher for everyone on this site. Amazing, all of the emotions were spot on and I love the maturity you’ve given the Danish relationship. I feel like a lot of Tibette shippers didn’t take them seriously because they were funny so thanks for giving them more depth. And I am also positive that the hospital jargon was a pain in the ass to research unless you’re even more of a genius than I imagined and you knew all of that off the top of your head. If that’s the case then forget the writing and go into something like rocket science or brain surgery…well actually don’t forget the writing.
Wow. Very, very nice job. Beautiful update. Helena sitting on Winnie was absolutely hilarious. I did not expect that by any means. Lara bustin’ out the moves too. It was like Lauren Lee Smith was back on Mutant X, kicking some butt. You did an amazing job writing the characters. I thought their actions and reactions were very realistic to the actual characters on the show. I was thinking exactly what Bette said as soon as Dr. Bowman said that Alice wouldn’t be talking anytime soon. I guess this would be one of those rare things that would make Alice not talk. She needs a dry-erase board. They’re a good form of communication when you can’t talk. Plus…Alice might not need so many pain meds if she sniffs the markers alot :) Yes, I know that Dana had her mind on other things. I was just visiting my favorite vaction spot…DeNile (as usual). Great update. I really enjoyed reading it and can’t wait for more.
Love that the whole gang are together. Dana will not be along with Alice without one of them being there. Thank goodness that Bette didnt let her move. The love that is shown is amazing. thanks
Wow, I just couldn’t not comment on this chapter. I know I’ve been failing in that department, sorry btw. But this story is so fucking good the connection between those two is so much stronger than IC was able to convey! Please keep updating and I will try to comment and compliment you more often.

And LOL for Bette’s joke about Alice talking…well placed and actually realistic in that kind of situation! um…about mine….well, soon! In the meantime, I am enjoying how you keep twisting and turning and building the story…and the relationships. Very nicely done!

Wow! What a chapter! I’m so thankful that Alice is going to be alright! You sure can write – I love your flow and the talent you have in letting all of their emotions show. Peggy is right – they are an amazing group of women especially how they are always there for each other. Deeply riveting emotions between Dana and Alice going on…you wrote it so well I can see it like a movie in my brain. Awesome SG!
Hey Babe. Nice fucking work as usual. The best part about this story, is that as each chapter goes by, I find myself actually giving a shit about the other characters…which is not to say I hate them…I just would normally rather spend my reading time on Danish. But you have written them all so well that I can’t help but read. So bravo and keep up the amazing work. And thanks for not killing Alice. True she might now be walking it off like I had origanally hoped, but it looks like she will be up and running before we know it. lol. OK. Great job and post soon. yes I realize I am do for some kind of post…any kind actually. lol. But I am not home so it is tough to get on a PC. Someday…when you least expect it, there will be something from me on the boards. lol. Unitl then, keep being the machine you are!

Ok. I’m kinda speechless at the moment, because this chapter was utter perfection from start to finish. I honestly dont know how to express in words the emotions I felt while reading. All I know is that I want to walk up to IC and smack the hell out of her for killing of Dana and ending Danish forever. She should have fucking let you write the show, because honestly, I’m more captivated by your storyline! Bravo, my dear. This story is fucking amazing!

Hi, I don’t normally leave comments and am not a great Danish fan, but this story is fantastic, you right beautifully, I am sitting in work and have to try and hide the tears in my eyes, thank you for such a wonderful story.
Okay, I have a confession. I cried all the way through this, but I smiled like a big geek when Peggy was talking to Winnie. Best Peggy quote in a fic I’ve ever read. Oh yeah, and I laughed like an even bigger geek when Helena sat on Wiinie. What else can I say? Hmm. This was absolutely brilliant, and it’s one hell of a compliment to hear that you like my story. Of course, it’ll never measure up to the awesomeness of this, but that’s okay. And I’m babbling.
WOW!!!! Nice job saving Alice and Dana. Love Bette’s comment about her not talking, I mean, who can really imagine Alice to be quiet.
