We spent the rest of the afternoon preparing for our guests, stopping every now and then to make out. At around half past six Bette and Tina were the first to arrive, followed in turn by Shane and Carmen, Jenny and Max, Kit and Angus and Helena. We greeted them happily and the rest of us sat chatting while Dana went to check on the dinner.

Dana had made a delicious dinner that we all sat down to enjoy. I had been in charge of setting the table and doing drinks. I had got very into my project of setting the table, buying a bright yellow tablecloth, adorable toy chicks (that Dana teased me for) and a small chocolate rabbit to set on each place.

When we had finished our yummy roast beef dinner I got coffees and sat down next to Dana, taking her hand. We looked each other and silently agreed that it was time to share our news.

“Guys, me and Dana have an announcement to make” I said loudly to attract everyone’s attention. They all turned to face us. “I asked Dana to move in with me…”

Dana took over from me immediately, “and I agreed…of course!” she exclaimed excitedly, a huge grin on her face.

The table erupted in “congratulations” and “about time” and “that’s great” as our friends smiled back at us. Dana began to tell about how I put the key inside the chocolate egg and I gazed across at her, not really listening because I was so lost in my admiration and love for her.

“I bet you think it was a really cheesy thing to do right?” I said when Dana has finished telling the story.

“Cheesily romantic Al” Shane grinned at me.

“It wasn’t as romantic as the video Dana made me. You all knew about that didn’t you?” I asked my friends.

“I knew about it because I helped Dana out with it” Max told me.

“We didn’t know a lot about it though, Dana just asked us to say a few words to the camera” Tina informed me “I take it you liked it?” she asked.

“I loved it! Thanks for what you all said, I was in tears, it was so sweet”.
