Chapter 9

“I won! The judged ruled in my favour.”

“That’s great baby! I am so happy for you.” Bette’s excitement only mirrored Tina’s on the other end of the phone. “So when do you get to take Christian home?”

“Today. Well Eric wanted to spend some time with him. So I will go over there later this evening to pick him up.”

“We should celebrate. I’ll make his dinner and dessert.” Bette suggested.

“That would be great.” Tina and Bette have been living together for that past four months. When Tina bought her new home she asked She asked Bette to move in with her about a month after. She has been the pillar for Tina since the start of the custody battle and has been to almost all of the court appearances. Bette couldn’t make the hearing today because of an assignment, but Tina knew that she was with her in spirit. “We can finally be a family.”

“I know baby.”

“Ok I have to go, I’ll see you tonight. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

Bette’s assignment was completed, but the team was being debriefed when the call came in. when she was done she headed to the supermarket to prepare for tonight’s dinner. On her way home she also stopped by at several stores to prepare Christian’s room.

Tina finished work around six in the afternoon. She headed straight to the house she once shared with Eric. She was elated and nervous at the same time. She was also surprised that Christian wanted to live with her instead of Eric. Since the separation, Tina always fought to see her son. And if Eric allowed it, it was for one day in a month sometimes two months. She got to the house in record time. She parked in the driveway and switched off the engine. The house was in darkness except for the reading light in the living. She rang the bell and waited for him to answer. When Eric opened the door he grabbed Tina and pulled her into the house. He pushed her to the floor. “Mommy?’ Her son cried. She turned and saw her son tied to a chair.

“Baby. Baby don’t worry mommy is here. I wont let anything happen to you ok? Mommy is here.”
