Naive Perception of Perfect Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Chapter 29 Fight, fight, fight at all costs.
Alice and Dana drove in silence for most of the trip. The two were so nervous about seeing Bette. They knew whatever was in that letter would most likely break Bettes heart. When they finally picked her up Bette was sitting outside waiting for them. She jumped in the back of Danas suv.
Alice turned to face her.
Alice: You know Bette. We had planned on coming to a full stop and letting you in the car, you didnt have to wait outside.
Bette: I know, I just hate being in there. Ya know?
Dana: Yeah, we know.
The three arrived at the planet just a few moments later. They grabbed their usually table and ordered.
Bette: So, what did you guys want to talk to me about?
Bette sweetly sipped her iced mocha.
Alice: Oh well…you know…
Dana noticed Alice was searching for anything to say.
Dana: Just stuff.
Bette: Just stuff?
Alice: Yeah, stuff. Good stuff Bad stuff..
Dana: Stuff, stuff…
Bette: Yeah I got it.
Alice and Dana just couldnt make eye contact with Bette. They had discussed in the car that they werent going to mention their new budding romance. They figured it could only hurt her.
Bette: Guys, seriously.
Dana: Alice and I are together!
Alice: Dana!! I thought we agreed…
Dana: I know I just wasnt sure what to say!!
Bette: Ladies, why am I here??
Alice: First of all, we just wanted to say that we were sorry about last night.
Bette: Oh that. Yeah, its fine. I mean she was angry. She wanted to hurt me, I get that.
Dana: Yeah but still it was cruel.
Alice nudged Dana in the ribs.
Dana: Ow!
Alice: Sorry.
Bette: Guys, really, Im fine. She just needs time. I really think well be ok.
Alice: She used us to give you this.
Alice opened her purse and took out the envelope.
Bette cautiously took it from her hands. She quickly opened it. It was obvious to the girls that Bette was nervous.
She read the letter slowly, carfully, making sure each word was what she thought it was. Tears began to well in the corner of her eyes.
Alice: *****, this was an awful idea.
Alice whispered to Dana. Dana couldnt even speak. Bettes pain read like a book on her face.
When she finished reading she shook the envelope and turned it upside down. Out fell the ring. The ring she gave Tina. She remembered the night of their engagement. Bette hoped to get home early and cook ( well order in) a great meal. Light every candle she could find and play that song, their song, on repeat. Bette couldnt contain her emotions any longer. The tears fell quickly one after another. Dana grabbed Alices hand under the table. She hated watching this.
Bette grabbed her purse and ran out the door. The girls followed.
Alice: Bette, where are you going?
Bette: We need to talk. I wont give her a divorce, not without a fight.
Dana: But Bette, she really wanted to be at the house alone.
Bette: Its still my house, I can come and go there as I please!
Alice: I wont drive you there.
Bette: Ill take a cab.
She stood on the corner and flagged down the first car that went by.
With one last look to the girls, Bette was gone.

okay…still here…you’re gonna break my heart again aren’t you? next chapter please.
This was a terrible way for Bette to find out. I hope she and Tina can stop hurting each other long enough to talk things out.
So Bette is going to fight the divorce. They will call Tina to tell her that Bette is on the way. Hate that friends are in the middle of this. Can lose good friends that way.
