“I had lunch with Jodi. We’re right on schedule so I should have this show up and running by next month. I really hope there’s no more drama. Oh and I have something to ask you, baby.”
“What’s that?” Tina asked.
“Do you think you can be my date on the opening night?” Bette asked tentatively.
“Uhm… I dunno, hun. I may be busy with work and everything else. You know.” Tina teased.
“Oh. Are you sure because Jodi offered to be dates on the opening night and I said I wanted to go with you. That is if you’d take me.”
“That bitch did what? Does she have no bone of decency in her?” Tina flared.
“I was just kidding, Tee.”
“Sod off, Bette!”
“What? You started it. You were the one who started to tease me by saying that you weren’t going.”
Tina was silent.
“Bette?”
“Yes, baby?”
“Can I be your date on your opening night?”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way, babe.”
Chapter 28
Tina was typing furiously at her laptop. She wanted to be out of the office by 4PM and it was already 3. She still has a couple of emails and phone calls to make before she can get out. She then has to go by the house, change, get her luggage and head to the airport. Tomorrow night is Bette’s opening and they haven’t seen each other for over a month. It was driving them both crazy but they were also both very busy with their work. Finally, all the hard work would pay off. Bette will finally be staging the show that she has been working on and Tina will have a week off.
At 4:15PM, Tina was walking out of her office and heading to her car. This is the start of her vacation. A well deserved one at that. She was almost at her car when she heard someone call her name.
“Tina?”
She turned around and saw Eric. “Eric? Hi!”
“I thought it was you. How are you?” Eric inquired.
“I’m doing well. What brings you here?” Tina asked.
“I was just in a meeting and I was debating over passing by your office or not. Look, I know things didn’t end as planned between the two of us and I really felt bad for completely cutting you off.” Eric explained.
