    Zoe tells Madison the truth and Bette shares her feelings with Tina

    Zoe sat up in bed and turned to face Madison. Madison could see fear and sadness in her eyes and that just broke her own heart.

    Zoe, just tell me. This waiting is killing me.

    Okay. You remember Linda, the woman you dated before me?

    Yes?

    Well Ive been a friend of hers since law school. We are pretty close and when you broke up with her you really broke her heart. I suggested we set you up, give you a taste of your own medicine.

    Anger flared within Madison as she put the pieces together but as quickly as it flared it was replaced by utter sadness and defeat. Madison had finally fallen in love but it was all just a cruel joke. She didnt even try to contain the tears welling up in her eyes.

    Zoe reached out to wipe the tears away but Madison pulled away and in a low quiet voice said Dont Zoe.

    So this was all part of a grand scheme eh? How perfect that you waited for us to make love and for me to confess my innermost feelings to you. Well done, bravo! Madison reached down and retrieved her shirt from the floor and quickly put it on. Suddenly she was feeling too exposed in front of the woman that minutes ago was the love of her life.

    Zoe watched in horror. Madison had forgotten her promise and was taking this in the worse way possible. Damn it! She needed to get through to her somehow.

    Madison had gotten out of bed by then and was staring out the window, looking at the night sky wondering if maybe she deserved this. This was payback for all the women that she had bedded and left. Payback for all the short term relationships that she had ended as soon as the other woman got the least bit serious.

    Zoe walked up behind Madison and wrapped her arms around her waist. Madison fought to disengage herself but Zoe held tight.

    What, do you want from me Zoe? Please just let me be.

    No, Im not leaving until Ive said my piece. What did you promise me at the start of this conversation?

    5. And yet again you manage to astound me. Fantastic new chapter. The drama of Maddie and Zoe counterbalance by Bette’s remorse and Tina’s ever faithful luving.
